We have long dreamed of doing a river cruise somewhere in Europe, and now it has finally happened. We are currently cruising the waterways of France. Happy Friday!
Table of contents
From Colmar to Auxonne
After the visit to the fantastic charming Colmar we set off for Auxonne, in Burgundy. This is where our next adventure would start - a river cruise on the waterways of France.
We set the GPS to avoid motorways, and instead we drove on winding roads, through mountainous areas with ski resorts and small villages with historic stone houses. It took a while, but we finally arrived in Auxonne!

On a river cruise in France
Now it was time for a river cruise in France, with the ship Grand Victoria from French Barge Holidays, with whom we cooperate. This luxuriously furnished barge is super longand it's almost difficult to get the whole thing in the picture, but we promise to come back with a picture where you can see the whole thing...!

The week-long cruise takes you on waterways - rivers and canals - through Burgundy. During the cruise, you'll pass through lush countryside and picturesque towns, as well as the occasional lock.

The Grand Victoria is a luxuriously appointed ship, with room for up to six passengers. This is an exclusive tour, with fantastic cabins and rooms. The fact that there are so few also makes it very intimate and personal.
We have very nice days and evenings together with the other two couples who are on board. In addition, both the owners and the staff are absolutely wonderful (and as a bonus, one of the owners and one of the staff speak Swedish!)

Another highlight of this cruise is that the food is fantastic. We will tell you a little more later, but for now we can say that the level is very high. We told you that this is an exclusive cruise, right?

The couple who run the company, Edward and Cindy, are on board themselves, and it is Edward who drives the boat. The couple, who have a connection to Sweden, are well versed in the area and extremely knowledgeable about everything from history to wine. This means that we get good guided tours and find local gems, where you probably do not get there if you go with a larger boat.
Because yes, you're not on board all the time. Every day we stop at a different place, and then there are lunches, guided tours, wine tastings and other nice things ...! We'll tell you much more soon - stay tuned!

Film from the cruise in Croatia
From one cruise to another! Recently we were out on Cruise in Croatia, with Katarina Line. Now Peter has managed to cut together a film about that cruise, which you can check out below.
Going forward, we will sell selected Katarina Line cruises through our travel agency FREEDOM Xplore (ad link). They're not up on the site yet (because we haven't had time!) but you can of course contact us if you're interested!
Best this week
Best this week? Yes, there is no doubt about it, it is of course this wonderful river cruise in France, including everything we get to see and experience along the way, in places like Dijon and Beaune. Absolutely fantastic!
Your turn ... what has been the best part of your week? Big and small...

The week ahead
We are still on board and cruise a little more before it is time to end this adventure. Then it's time for us to return to the motorhome, which is waiting in a car park. We will continue to hang out in France, and we will have to spend some time working on the computers.
Here at freedomtravel.se you can expect reports on the cruise in France, mixed with reports by our guest writers, and maybe a little more. Now it's time for us to wish you a nice Friday and weekend!

What a wonderful feeling to wake up and know that a new place awaits, and to have it like that for several days.

Looks absolutely wonderful to slowly glide through the French countryside and visit French gems to cities along the way. Large parts of France are completely unfamiliar to us, unfortunately you do not have time for everything....

It looks wonderful, calm and cosy. Cosy places you get to, perfect with a smaller boat, even if it is long. Does the boat stay still at night or does it move on like many of the big boats do on the Danube etc ?
Have a nice weekend from us in the rain. Hugs

What a journey you are on, cruises, motorhomes and everything else you get to experience. It's marvellous.
So incredibly nice with a river cruise. Would love to do one. Have only followed via YouTubers who have done similar before.
Looks so lovely.
