It goes without saying that we love travelling. The love list can easily be long! But are there also things we hate about travelling ...? Now ”hate” is a very strong word, but sure there are things that are less fun ...

A list of pluses and minuses
We found inspiration for this list from our fellow travel blogger Travel Friday - you can see her version of the list here.
Love it!
Let's start with some things we love about travelling.
- Travel fever! That strong feeling of excitement and anticipation, mixed with a little nervousness - we don't always feel it anymore, but some exotic destinations and experiences offer it!
- The energy we get when travelling! When we're at home, we often feel tired and lack energy. When we are travelling, we are often busy, and yet we feel that we sheep energised by everything that happens.
- Meetings with people! Places and sights in all honour, but meeting people around the world is something special. New insights and memories for life!
- New flavours! Food is a big part of travelling for us. We love everything from fine dining to street food and home cooked meals. Spices, smells and flavours... wonderful!
- The freedom of a motorhome! Being able to drive where your nose is pointing. Being able to stop when you feel like it. That kind of journey is the best of all!

Hate!
And so we come to the minus side...
- Almost missing the flight/ferry! Maybe it's due to traffic chaos or airport queues - whatever the reason, it's terribly feeling like you're about to miss a flight. It's awful!
- Forgetting/losing things! You wouldn't believe how often we lose important things (and sometimes we lose something for real). Stress impact deluxe!
- Technical problems! It could be a faulty internet connection, a drone that won't fly or a malfunctioning motorhome. Not funny!
- Skyscrapers and glass lifts! Neither of us is particularly fond of skyscrapers, but I (Helena) am also afraid of heights. Hate having to go high up in a building. Glass lift? Hate!
- Tourists who do not show respect! Everyone can make mistakes sometimes, but if you deliberately ignore local customs, we get a little sick to our stomachs. Not sure if ”hate” is the right word, but it feels uncomfortable ...

Great to read your list! The day the cons outweigh the pros, I'll probably stop travelling - but it hasn't happened yet... 🙂

Minus - iofs I do not travel often and mostly it is between Sweden and Greece. I think it's sooo boring to sit on a plane... mostly try to sleep so time goes faster. Plus- eat 🙂 eat everything that is not typically Greek. Although here in Greece I love to eat Greek.

Now that's a list I can get behind. Agree with everything you love and hate.
If I'm travelling to, or from Sweden, for an extended period of time, it's always separation anxiety that sets in during the days before departure. Same when we are with our daughter in CA, or if she is here. The day she's leaving, or we are, it's just blue in the heart. Then, sitting on a long flight is boring, and the older I get the more my body hurts, haha. But yes, that thing with delays, rebookings and all that stress takes EVEN more. Hate heavy turbulence too, but who doesn't..
Also love the kind of travel fever you write about, wonderful. Then, the freedom with the motorhome ... yes! FATTAR. Can't wait until we get one and drive around in when the urge strikes. AAAAHHH!!!
AND I'm like you, Helena, I have such a fear of heights, just glass lifts are almost anxiety for me, have to stand with my head against the door and just breathe.
Fun list to read!

Fun idea to make a list of + and - or loves/hates. If there's one thing we really hate, it's when technical things and electronics don't work, like our fridge now on our trip or our gearbox last spring. Such things should just work PERFECTLY! Then we agree that disrespectful tourists are not a hit.
What we really like is that excitement the day before a trip, when your suitcase is packed and waiting to go, or a campervan trip with no definite plans. You can stay as long as you want, turn in a completely different direction if you feel like it. It really is total freedom and it's wonderful!

I find the time to get to the destination boring because it is usually just a journey. Being short of time when changing aeroplanes can be stressful if you are short of time.
Thankfully, the benefits far outweigh the risks. Experiencing new things and visiting new places is always rewarding. Trying the local cuisine is a given,

Love: The waiting before, the planning. Waking up at your destination with the whole journey ahead of you. Seeing or experiencing something you dreamed of. The feeling when you arrive and think: I'm damn in...
Hate: Early flights. The stress of getting to the airport on time or the fear of queues, for example at security. Worrying about flight cancellations (all based on personal experience, of course).
I also hate that some places have become so damn touristy that you have to book a ”slot” for every single thing you want to do, that there are hordes of people without control and that you have to stand in such ”corners”.
Now it seems that I hate more than love but no, the love part weighs much heavier!

New flavours and meeting new people are at the top of the positive list. Preferably people who do not speak English, but you get to know each other via google translate or sign language.
Believe it or not, I/we managed twice to miss both trains and planes. Dates and numbers have never been my thing, and I don't understand why my husband trusted me blindly. I managed to miss the train to Östersund, on the wrong day. The same happened with the flight from Bulgaria home. Wrong date again. Embarrassing is just the first name, not to mention the costs ...
I also managed to forget my pocket camera in Goa. We had to go back to the island from Malta and got it back.
I love skyscrapers and glass lifts. There are many to enjoy and hate in Benidorm;-)
