Mot Grekland – följ vår resa till Naxos och Sifnos

Now it's time for a new trip! We barely have time to park the camper at home in Stockholm before it's time to board a flight. This time we're going to discover two islands in the Greek archipelago: Naxos and Sifnos.

Against Greece

This is the third year in a row that we have been to Greece in September. We are working with a local PR agency in the country and the trips are a combination of private travel, while we also get some help on site.

There are different islands that the Greek PR agency wants to highlight, and many times they are the islands that are not the most touristy.

Greek islands that we discovered in previous years

During our previous September trips, we discovered the islands of Karpathos and Andros. We also had time to look around Rhodes, since that's where we took the boat to Karpathos.

Karpathos

Karpathos, located between Rhodes and Crete, offers fantastic beaches, dramatic mountains and cozy villages. We were especially fascinated by the winding mountain roads and the well-preserved and unique culture of the village of Olymbos. We also remember the good food, visits to a winery and a lovely boat trip.

Andros

Andros is a two-hour ferry ride from Athens and offers fantastic beaches, nice hiking trails and really good restaurants. We really enjoyed the beaches and nature here, but also the food. What we may remember best is the genuine encounters with the fantastic locals!

Greek islands we should discover this year

This year we will discover two different islands. We will fly to Athens, and from there we will take a boat to the different islands.

Naxos

Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades and is often described as an island with a little bit of everything. Here you will find beautiful beaches and whitewashed villages, but also mountains, hiking trails, historical remains and a vibrant agriculture. The main town of Naxos, or Chora, is known for its narrow alleys, the old town and the large ancient Portara which has become something of a symbol of the island.

Sifnos

Sifnos is considerably smaller and has a reputation for being a charming and rather elegant little island, with whitewashed villages, churches, hiking trails and beautiful coastal landscapes. The island is also known for its food tradition and ceramics. Here we hope for that typical Cycladic feel with blue and white houses, small alleys, tavernas and nice views of the Aegean Sea.
