The old Hanseatic city on the Baltic Sea offers colorful historic houses, impressive brick churches, one of Germany's oldest universities and over 160 years of Swedish history. The famous artist Caspar David Friedrich was also born here. We arrived in Greifswald by sailboat and discovered the city from both the water and land.

We had the chance to discover the area around Usedom, Peenestrom and Greifswald from a sailboat – a journey with small natural harbors, bridge openings, fishing villages and historic towns. Updated: August 2026 | The Oder Lagoon stretches between Poland and Germany, inside the islands of Usedom and Wolin. We got to experience the area from the water when we sailed from Świnoujście to Szczecin – a journey of around seven hours through canals and open water, accompanied by a whole retinue of sailboats.

Updated: August 2026 | What is there to see and do in Świnoujście, Poland? The Polish coastal city is located right on the border with Germany and attracts with a long sandy beach, nice parks, historic forts and a lively seaside resort. For many Swedes, Świnoujście is also the gateway to Poland, as ferries from Sweden arrive here. We have visited the city several times – both with a camper van and to go sailing.

We have started charging the batteries of the motorhome, cleaning and fixing the lights. Project FREEDOM 2.0 is finally up and running, and we are working hard to fix the campervan. Things are progressing at full speed, but we have also encountered some setbacks.
