The Masurian Lakes in Poland offer a magical holiday paradise in the eastern part of the country, and here we tried a canal boat trip from Mikolajki. Masuria is a region in north-eastern Poland with around 3000 lakes. Although the area is relatively unknown to Swedes, many tourists come here, not least from Germany, and the canal boat trips are numerous.

Mink in Poland! We have long dreamed of seeing wild bison in Poland and finally reached our biggest goal: the Bialowieza Forest, or Bialowieza National Park, in the eastern part of the country. This wild primeval forest extends over a vast area on both sides of the border between Poland and Belarus.

Saturday morning. At 9.00 we are ready just as planned, we meet Magnus and Terese at the petrol station and start our journey. It flows well, have lunch in Ödeshög and have then travelled about 29 miles. We drive further down to Helsingborg. Take the ferry Helsingborg-Helsingör and stand at Camping Nivå, just south of Helsingör. 62 mil this day.

Kozlowka is a beautiful palace in Poland that is definitely worth a visit. The palace is a rococo and neoclassical palace built in the 18th century with a stunning castle park. We also stayed one night in a really cosy campsite with a personal welcome, sauna, lots of animals and a huge shop where you can buy... everything.

Now we have started the exciting journey eastwards in Poland! From having recently been in Krakow, where you can hear Swedish spoken here and there, we have left for "unknown" areas. The goal is the ancient forests with bison and wolves in the far east, and on the way there we try to find various interesting stops. The first stop was at the Baranow Sandomierski castle.

Punkva caves are located in Blansko, just north of Brno in the Czech Republic. These large caves are filled with stalagtites, stalagmites and fascinating rock formations. However, what makes this cave particularly worth visiting is the green and grassy area in the centre of the cave and the underground river where you can glide along in a boat.

Now is the last thing to be done here at home before the trip. We have had time to plan a lot this year and made some improvements to the car. It feels like we are compensating for what we didn't get to do last year. Last year we didn't have time to do much. We packed clothes and passports, then went out. It went well too 🙂 As long as we have all the papers belonging to the car, passports and visa cards, we can complete the rest during the journey.
