Updated: August 2026 | Praia da Galé, located on the outskirts of Albufeira on the Algarve coast, is an incredibly beautiful beach. On one side stretches a long sandy beach with fine-grained sand. During our month in Portugal we used to go there to jog every other day. On the other side there is a strip of beach with beautiful rock formations and small cozy coves, where you can find your own little secluded corner for sunbathing and swimming.

Updated: August 2026 | For most of our time on the Algarve coast, we parked our campervan in a parking lot in Albufeira. The parking lot is called Parque de Palmeira and is within walking distance of the city center. The place is actually a former football field and according to the website, the income from the parking lot goes to travel and other expenses for several youth football teams.

Updated August 2026 | What to do in Caminha in northwestern Portugal? Caminha is a small, idyllic holiday town located two kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, close to the border with Spain. This town is actually so close to the Spanish border that we were able to get Spanish internet on our phones. We came here by camper van and explored the town for a day, combined with a relaxed stay at the Orbitur Caminha campsite.
