Here, open cliffs meet the Skagerrak, while small coves, heather heaths and an idyllic natural harbor hide between the hills. Kungsklyftan in Fjällbacka is a dramatic gorge in Vetteberget, named after a visit by King Oscar II. The gorge is also known from the Ronja Rövardotter film, while Fjällbacka itself has become famous through Camilla Läckberg's series on the Fjällbacka murders.

Updated September 2026 | Uddevalla surprised us. We came for the Strandpromenaden and the sea, but found a city with an 11,000-year-old seabed, a royal spa, crazy castles and people we still talk about. And somewhere between the whales, the hot tub and two evil yellow parking surprises, Uddevalla started to become a really good story.
