Updated: October 2026 | Solliden Castle on Öland is the royal family's summer paradise. Although the villa is private, large parts of the beautiful castle park are open to visitors. Here you can stroll through several different gardens and perhaps finish with a coffee at Kaffetorpet.

We started in Byxelkrok in the morning and then drove slowly south, along cliffs, beaches and ravines. A fantastically beautiful road – and one of the stretches on Öland that made the strongest impression on us.

Böda Sand Camping on Öland is not only Sweden's largest campsite but also known from the TV reality series Böda Camping. Located along a two-mile long white sandy beach, the campsite is like a small village of its own with shops, restaurants, entertainment and activities.

Updated: October 2026 | Öland's southern tip offers a landscape that almost feels exotic, with open spaces and animals roaming freely across the roads. Here also stands the Långe Jan lighthouse, which is Sweden's tallest lighthouse and one of the country's oldest lighthouses.

Granhult Church in Småland is Sweden's oldest wooden church. This fine little wooden church, dating from the 1220s, survived against all odds and is today a fascinating attraction. Not least, it is fantastic to see all the old paintings and decorations in wood.
