Ales stenar is Sweden's largest and best preserved ship setting. The stone formation sits magnificently on a hill above the village of Kåseberga on the south coast of Österlen in Skåne. It is known that the shipwreck dates to sometime between 500 and 1000 AD, but much else remains a mystery.

Österbybruk is beautifully located in Roslagen and offers a beautiful manor house, historical mill environment and plenty of activities around arts and crafts. When we were here, not everything had opened yet, but despite that we had a nice afternoon.

Updated: October 2026 | We have returned to Jönköping time and time again over the years – sometimes with a camper, sometimes for trade fairs and work and sometimes just to discover the city and the surrounding areas. Here there are of course matches and John Bauer's trolls, but also swimming in the middle of town, nice walks, lively market stalls and Lake Vättern, which is somehow always there in the background.

Lövstabruk in Uppland is one of the so-called 'vallonbruks' in Sweden, a historic ironworks dating back to the 16th century. It was once the largest ironworks in Sweden, owned by the de Geer family for 13 generations. Today, the mill is a popular tourist destination with attractions, exhibitions and an inn.

Forsmark's mill in Roslagen is one of the many beautiful Walloon mills in the area. Iron was once produced here, and in the 17th century the Walloons came from Belgium to improve production. Today the mill is a great place to visit with historic buildings, an English park, a restaurant and a café.

There is a medieval castle with one of Sweden's most dramatic histories, a beautiful river that winds through the city and an archipelago where you can walk between the islands on suspension bridges.
