Nyköpingshus has a long and sometimes very dramatic history. This medieval castle was transformed in the 16th century into a Renaissance castle, which was destroyed in a fierce fire in the 17th century. It was the site of the famous "Nyköping guest bids", many people were imprisoned here and today it serves as a museum.

Ericsberg Castle is one of Sweden's most beautiful baroque castles, and the garden is occasionally open to visitors. However, our visit to the castle was not quite as planned, and then the day continued in the same way. Castle after castle was private and more or less closed to visitors. Boo Castle is a beautiful terracotta-coloured palace reminiscent of a fairytale castle. Not too far away, you can also visit the beautiful Brevens Bruk and see the lots of deer. For our part, it then ended with a castle and campsite in Vingåker.

Julita Farm is a mansion and open-air museum owned by the Nordic Museum. Currently, all tours and events are cancelled, but you can walk around the gardens and historic buildings.

Stora Sundby Castle is a fairytale castle with turrets and towers, beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Hjälmaren. The castle is privately owned, but visitors are welcome to the castle park and to walk in the beautiful deer enclosure. Wow, what an amazing place!

Sundbyholm Castle has a history as a monastery and royal estate. Today you can come here for hotel accommodation, conferences and weddings, but you can also come here to visit Sundbyholm's guest harbour. There is a nice parking space for motorhomes.

Gripsholm Castle is a magnificent and regal castle by Lake Mälaren. The rooms are still here from the time of the Vasa kings and there is also one of Europe's most well-preserved 18th century theatres. In addition, the surroundings are really nice.
