Greece, airport chaos and Sweden's best campsite

Norwegian launches direct flights to six new destinations in Greece

From Stockholm-Arlanda, Norwegian is launching direct routes to six new destinations in Europe in June. Greece. This means that during the summer Norwegian will fly to nine Greek destinations directly from Stockholm. Previous destinations are Athens, Chania and Rhodes. The new destinations are:

  • Corfu: Starts 9 June, with two departures per week
  • Kos: Starts 12 June, with one departure per week
  • Heraklion, Crete: Starts 11 June, with one departure per week
  • Mykonos: Starts 10 June, with two departures per week
  • Santorini: Starts 10 June, with two departures per week
  • Thessaloniki: Starts 16 June, with one departure per week

SkiStar invests in active mountain experiences for more people: free taster sessions for local residents

SkiStar's goal is to get more people moving and active. As part of this work, all local residents at SkiStar's destinations in Sweden and Norway are invited to a day of trail and downhill cycling, visits to the climbing park and lift-assisted hiking. There will be free Lift and TrailPass and discounts on bike hire and SkiStar's climbing park throughout the day, and an opportunity to find out what the whole of SkiStar and the destination offers in the summer.

Böda Sand voted best camping resort in Sweden

Böda Sand on Öland is Sweden's best camping resort, according to a survey conducted by Kantar Sifo on behalf of motorhome and caravan retailer Forsbergs Fritidscenter. The survey was conducted in Kantar Sifo's web panel, with 1145 participants aged 18-79. Here is the top 5 list:

  1. Böda Sand, Öland
  2. Västervik resort, Småland, Västervik
  3. Kneippbyn Resort, Gotland, Visby
  4. Pite Havsbad, Norrbotten, Piteå
  5. Apelviken, Halland, Varberg

Chaos at Arlanda airport

Many newspapers and individuals are reporting chaos at Terminal 5 at Arlanda, and pictures show long queues. People have missed their flights even though they were at the airport in good time. In a press release (12 June, 08:02), Swedavia urges passengers to arrive at the airport as ready as possible and to arrive only when check-in opens, which is often 2-3 hours before departure.

Visit Småland launches app to attract holidaymakers to Småland.

Visit Småland is launching the 'Småland Treasures' app to help Swedish tourists discover Småland's attractions - while the user collects points by completing 'missions' and collecting badges. The app uses typical Småland icons, such as avatars of the polka pig, the cheesecake and the fairytale princess. There are a total of 100 missions to complete in the app, which will be launched on 14 June 2022.

No one has failed to hear about the chaos at Arlanda. It is difficult to understand that this cannot be organised. How can you dare to book a trip if you can't be sure of arriving by plane? Right now it's nice to travel by motorhome ...
