I have just read, and can recommend, Niceville by Kathryn Stockett. The book follows three women, the white socialite Skeeter and the two black maids Aibileen and Minny, in the American South in the 1960s.

Hi!!! I saw the film The Help on my way to the US last weekend and when I landed I found the book with the same name at the airport. And that's the one you've read, although it's called something else in Swedish! I thought the movie was good, even though the airplane sounds made me miss some of the dialogues... All the best to you both from a newly returned Scanian.

Johanna, I didn't even know it was a film! Fun, and of course it's a bit funny that you do things almost at the same time, but the world is not that big as you know. Hope you had a good trip to the USA!

We have a tablet with us and download books. The wife reads a lot and it is not possible to carry books on the trip. Thanks books are also good. Good to be tipped off.

The Help is the original title and I must say that the Swedish title is very, very strange.
But the book is almost a must read. Loved the film too!!!

Usually, when a good book is made into a film, you are often disappointed, but they had succeeded with the setting, the characters and keeping the story together.

Nils-Åke & Birgitta, tablets seem very convenient if you are travelling a lot. Especially if you are also travelling abroad where it may be more difficult to find Swedish books. We don't have a reading tablet yet, but are thinking about it for the future.
