Swedes want to go camping on their winter holidays, at least if recent statistics are to be believed. A new survey from SCR - Swedish Camping shows that 7 out of 10 Swedes who want to go on a winter holiday see camping as an option. Here you can see more results from the survey.

Camping on a winter holiday - here's what Swedes think

The study shows that Swedes have a strong interest in winter holidays, and that camping is definitely an option.

  • Who wants to go on a winter holiday? Many (74 %) want to go on a winter holiday this year, or any other year. Most interested are Stockholmers (80 %) and young people aged 18-34 (81 %).
  • What do Swedes want to do on their winter holidays? Swedes want to go downhill skiing (47 %), cross-country skiing (41 %), socialising (52 %), sauna (44 %) and shopping (36 % for women and 20 % for men).
  • Who would consider camping? A total of 69 % of Swedes would consider camping on a winter holiday. Among young people aged 18-25 and families with children, the proportion is 76 %.
  • What are the benefits of camping on a winter holiday? Reasons for choosing camping for winter holidays are price (56 %), self-catering (39 %) and proximity to skiing (29 %).
