This week has been intense, with visits from American researchers at my (Helena's) job all week. This weekend there will be the Alpine World Cup in Åre, and it will surely be just as intense. In addition, we are rebuilding the blog's design ... Happy Friday!

ShareAmerican researchers visit
All this week we have had American researchers visiting my (Helena's) workplace. Researchers in Chicago have spent many years developing a programme to promote the health of adults with intellectual disabilities. We brought the programme to Sweden, translated it, and then pilot tested it in a municipality in Stockholm.
During the week, the American researchers came here, and we organised a large seminar to inform and invite more municipalities to participate. During the seminar, Swedish and American researchers, staff in municipal organisations and participants with their own disabilities presented - dynamic and fun!
What did the Americans like about Sweden? That it's smaller than they expected, the food is good and the snow is much cleaner than at home - even when it melts!
World Cup in Åre this weekend
This weekend will be spent in Åre, in cooperation with the Austrian Tourist Office. We will experience Alpine World Cup 2019which will be very, very fun. We like to blog on location, but this time we're not sure if it's possible.
We will be staying in Östersund (as all accommodation in Åre is sold out) and we will have a full programme from the moment we wake up, until the bus goes back from Åre to Östersund at night. When will we blog? Yes, we are wondering that too... Just in case, we have prepared other posts, and you might not get to read about Åre until Tuesday.
New layout of the blog
Have you noticed that we have a new layout on the blog? If you're reading via Bloglovin or any other rss reader, you might not have seen it, but if you usually open up the blog's homepage, you could hardly miss the change. We've been preparing this for a very long time and have a great programmer helping us. The basis is online now, but there are still some fixes and teething problems. Hope you can put up with any hassle while we fix it!?

The best thing this week is that a stubborn cough I've had for three weeks has finally started to subside. I should also mention an overnight visit from little Liv.

The new design is great! Nice to have really professional help-an intense week for sure! And both rewarding and fun with a bunch of American researchers visiting.
Living in Östersund and commuting to Åre is not a hit at all. But necessity has no law. So use the time for something other than blogging. Maybe you'll also have time to do some skiing in Duved. I guess the slopes are closed in Åre now that the competitions are going on. Otherwise, the skiing there is really good.

What fun that you like the design!!! 🙂 Agree that it is a bit too far to commute between Åre and Östersund, but now during the World Cup there were no alternatives ... In any case, we have a chartered bus that drives us door to door! And believe that there are open slopes, we have on the schedule to go skiing on Sunday! 🙂

It's great to see major competitions on site. We would love to see the biathlon world championship IRL but we're already in Spain...
The best part of the week is undoubtedly the Friday off, which is spent with the daughters at the spa in Gbg.

It is only the slopes around the World Cup arena that are closed, very good skiing can be found all around.
As far as I know, cabins are still available for rent at Duved Camping.
Could even offer space in my motorhome at the campsite, free ski bus to Åre every half hour directly from the campsite.

Was in Squaw Valley, Calif. on New Year's Eve 1952-53. At that time, there was only ONE
"chair lift", and in 1960 the Olympics were held there!
Let's hope there's no avalanche.
Skiers in white clothes are hard to find in the snow. 🙂
