New train journeys, new airlines and new charter flights

By the time you read this, we will be on our way to the Philippines for a three-month adventure, or maybe even arrived. But, while waiting for us to write something, we are doing travel news, as usual here on Mondays.

You can now take the train to one of Norway's best ski areas.

On the Oslo-Trondheim line, SJ Norway started stopping in Kvitfjell, one of Norway's best ski areas for alpine and cross-country skiing, just after the New Year. With a train change in Oslo, it will now be much easier for Swedes to explore a new ski area. Kvitfjell is one of the most complete ski areas in Norway. The ski slopes spread out on three mountain sides. There are some of Norway's steepest slopes, several family areas, parks and off-piste areas. The train between Oslo and Kvitfjell can be booked on sj.no.

Direct trains to Austria this summer

This summer, the Snälltåget train runs directly from Malmö to Austria and together with STS Alpresor offers package holidays to the popular Bad Gastein. The night train departs Saturday 22 July from Malmö and arrives in the Austrian Alps on Sunday. The return journey takes place a week later. The train will stop in Schwarzach St. Veit and for STS Alpresor's guests a direct bus will run from there to Bad Gastein. The fast train then continues to Zell am See, St Johann in Tirol, Kitzbühel, Wörgl, Jenbach and Innsbruck.

TUI expands its charter offer from Norrköping, Sweden

Also in summer 2023, Norrköping Airport can offer journeys to Turkey. This is because TUI expands its offer from Norrköping and from April to October flies with Jettime directly to Antalya. Throughout the summer season, it is also possible to book a charter from Norrköping to Antalya. Cyprus, Mallorca, Crete and Rhodes with TUI.

New flights to Portugal

At the beginning of June, Ryanair will open a new direct route between Stockholm and London. Oporto with two departures per week. Swedes living in southern Sweden will be able to fly on Norwegian's new direct route from Copenhagen to Porto with two departures per week from June. At the end of March, Ryanair will also launch a new direct route between Copenhagen and Faro with two departures per week. During September-October 2023, it will also be possible to fly with SAS from Copenhagen to Porto twice a week.

Idre Himmelfjäll is Brand of the Year in Dalarna 2022

Newly started Idre Himmelfjäll is the Brand of the Year in Dalarna 2022. This was announced at the recent Star Gala, where the Dalarna Business jury chose the winners among Dalarna's entrepreneurs. The mountain destination opened three years ago as Sweden's first new investment in a ski resort in over 30 years. The destination is aimed at families with children who want to ski in real mountains. Around SEK 2 billion has been invested so far, and plans are underway to invest billions more in accommodation, skiing and infrastructure.

Viking Line presents new ship wines

Viking Line presents seven new ship wines for the period 2023-2024, which are available for sale on all ships from February. The ship wines are chosen in fierce competition from hundreds of different wines, always for two years at a time. The list includes dry and crisp German Riesling, full-bodied soft red wine from Portugal, and premium bubbly from Champagne and Catalonia.
