This week we have been to a really fun and enjoyable event, inspired by the Spanish city of Benidorm. The event was organized on board the M/S Enköping, which was cruising around for a few hours through a rainy Stockholm.

M/S Enköping
M/S Enköping is Strömma's oldest ship, and this ship can be rented for private parties. In this case, it was the Spanish Tourist Board in collaboration with Visit Benidorm who invited to the event, cruise and dinner.

It was a very rough and rainy day, but it still felt really cozy to step aboard.

Cruise in a rainy Stockholm
It might have been yet It would have been nicer if it had been a sunny evening, but you are sitting protected indoors and the views of the Stockholm archipelago are fantastic.

We followed the map as we trudged past places like Lidingö and Gåshaga. In some places it's like unbelievable so picturesque you can hardly believe it's true.

Inspiration about Benidorm
The Spanish tourist office might have hoped for better weather, but on the other hand, the rain clouds might have made Spain seem even more inviting.
We visited Benidorm 2015 and we liked this special city. I still remember how we came driving through the somewhat deserted landscape and how the high-rise buildings then rose from the sand, like a Miami or Las Vegas.

Benidorm is special thanks to its skyline, but there is also much more: a cozy old town center, restaurants with good food, nice campsites, long beautiful beaches and beautiful nature. What was highlighted in the presentations was that today there is a great focus on sustainability.

Nice meetings and good dinner
On board the M/S Enköping, there were pleasant meetings with the Spanish Tourist Office and Visit Benidorm as well as journalists and other writers who were invited. Dinner? Toast Skagen, salmon with potatoes and panna cotta were served. Very tasty!

Have you visited Benidorm?
Have you been to Benidorm? Have you gone on the M/S Enköping, or maybe another tour boat in Stockholm?

BP says:
What a cool idea to hold an event about Benidorm on a boat in Stockholm, regardless of the weather actually – hahaha!
As you know, I love Benidorm, which is not only impressive skyscrapers but sooooo much more. The old town is charming, the beaches have two completely different "characters" and if you like nature and hiking including rock climbing, there is that too. There is something for all tastes and ages.

How nice to travel in the archipelago and learn more about Benidorm. We have visited Benidorm a few times. and the first time I was here was in 1972 so the city has certainly changed a lot. I agree with what BP writes.
We haven't taken the Enköping ship to the archipelago, but we have taken the Blidösund. Perfect for getting from Furusund to Stockholm. We usually book full days on Hoops via the Blidösundsbilaget with the Sjöbris boat and then reach the outer archipelago on various day trips. Waxholmsbolaget has many old boats left so it's quite easy to get out. A trip to Sandhamn is an experience and you get to meet the outer part of the archipelago.

We hung out in Benidorm for a whole month, unexpectedly. Because we absolutely didn't think it was for us. But yeah, it's like a clash of two cultures, the English "own" half of the city and the Spanish the other, on the south side of the viewpoint you took the photo from. All the cool buildings and the Fancy Dress party were really fun to experience!
