For many, the ferry journey is no longer just a way to get from point A to point B. It has become part of the holiday experience, where the journey begins the moment you step on board. With restaurants, cafes, shops and sea views, the crossing is a relaxing start to your stay.

A new ferry line between Karlshamn and Gdańsk

This year's big news is the new ferry line between Karlshamn and Gdańsk, which was inaugurated in July. The line strengthens POLSCA Baltic Ferries' network between Sweden and Poland and complements the existing connections. Today, the shipping company operates four Swedish ports – Karlshamn, Nynäshamn, Ystad and Trelleborg – with destinations Gdańsk and Świnoujście, two of Poland's most important ferry ports.

The new route is particularly attractive for travellers in southern Sweden. Karlshamn in Blekinge is a convenient starting point, and after a few hours of crossing you reach Gdańsk – the heart of the Tricity, which together with Sopot and Gdynia forms one of Poland's most popular tourist areas.

Long sandy beaches, historic city centers, a wide range of restaurants, culture, shopping and a rich entertainment scene await you here. The region is also a perfect starting point for further explorations in Poland.

Świnoujście is also a popular gateway to Poland. The city, which spreads over several islands on the western part of the Polish Baltic Sea coast, is known for one of the Baltic Sea's widest sandy beaches, its well-developed network of cycle paths and its proximity to many attractions in West Pomerania.

Discover Poland by motorhome

More and more Swedish campervan travellers are choosing Poland as their holiday destination. The freedom to travel at your own pace, be able to stay where you want and get close to nature makes a campervan holiday an attractive option.

With POLSCA Baltic Ferries you can travel both with a camper van and with a car and caravan. Instead of driving long distances through Europe, your holiday starts on board. During the crossing there is the opportunity to relax, eat well, have a coffee or just enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea before the journey continues on the Polish side.

The Polish coast offers many opportunities for motorhome travellers – from Tricity and Gdańsk to the charming seaside resorts along the coast and further towards Świnoujście and West Pomerania. For those who want to continue further inland, lakes, national parks, historic towns and many lesser-known gems await.

Another advantage is the flexibility. The trip can start in one port and end in another, making it easy to discover several parts of Poland during the same vacation.

Poland on two wheels

More and more cyclists are choosing to take the ferry across the Baltic Sea. After arriving in Poland, many continue along the coast and discover the country's rapidly growing network of cycle paths.

Particularly popular are the routes along EuroVelo 10 and the many trails around Trójmiasto and in West Pomerania. For many Swedish cycling enthusiasts, Poland has become an attractive alternative to the more well-known cycling destinations in Skåne and Blekinge.

The possibility of travelling via one port and returning via another allows you to plan your cycling holiday even more freely. For example, a trip can start in Gdańsk, continue along the Baltic coast and end with the ferry back to Sweden from Świnoujście.

Vacation with the dog

For many, a vacation is not complete without their four-legged family member, which is why dogs and other pets are welcome aboard POLSCA Baltic Ferries ships.

On selected ships, there are pet-friendly cabins and special facilities that make the trip comfortable for both animals and owners. This is especially appreciated by Swedish families who like to spend their holidays in nature and want to be able to travel with their pets.

Once in Poland, kilometers of beaches, national parks and scenic seaside resorts await where both people and dogs can enjoy their vacation.

One of the biggest changes in the Baltic Sea

The ferry market on the Baltic Sea has recently undergone one of its biggest changes in many years. Unity Line, Polferries and EuroAfrica have merged under the common brand POLSCA Baltic Ferries.

The merger has created a stronger operator with a larger route network, a common booking system and even greater flexibility for travelers between Poland and Scandinavia.

Today, POLSCA Baltic Ferries' fleet consists of eleven vessels operating routes between Poland, Sweden and Denmark. An important part of the investment is a new generation of ferries developed specifically for Baltic Sea traffic.

Since the beginning of 2026, the modern LNG-powered ferry Jantar Unity has been operating on the Baltic Sea routes. The ship offers high comfort while contributing to lower emissions. In the autumn, she will be joined by her sister ship Bursztyn Unity, which is currently undergoing final preparations for its sea trials. A third ship in the series, Amber Unity, is planned to be put into service in the coming years.

The ships are among the most technically advanced passenger and vehicle ferries on the Baltic Sea and offer modern cabins, restaurants, cafés, high comfort and environmentally friendly technology.

Poland – for a weekend or a bigger adventure

For many Swedes, Poland is no longer just a neighboring country on the other side of the Baltic Sea. Thanks to the new ferry connections, the country has become an easily accessible destination for weekend trips, cycling holidays, family outings with the dog and longer motorhome trips along the coast or further inland.

On the other side of the Baltic Sea, a country filled with beautiful beaches, magnificent nature, rich history and lots of experiences awaits.
