We are demolishing the interior walls of the houseboat's living room. The interesting thing about demolition is that it reveals some of the history of the boat: how it was built and how it may have looked in the past. Many different types of wood and colours emerge. And sometimes you get a bit of a shock.

Now I have painted the first piece with the new colour! The houseboat will be light grey (a shade called sea mist) and all the linings will be white. While I was painting the lining and walls, Peter demolished the old deck and continued to sand and paint the deck.

Now it was time to relax! Recently, we replaced a whole bunch of windows on the houseboat. The new windows are much more modern, and we suddenly have an even more fantastic view of the water.

In the beginning we thought we would choose a more old-fashioned style of interior design in the houseboat, but it has become more and more modern ... Right now we are fixing the clothing storage in our large "walk-in-closet", which is really just one end of our large room on the lower deck.

We have been working on the boiler room in our houseboat every evening, and now our (extra) wardrobe is almost complete! On the right-hand side, we have built shoe shelves, and on the left-hand side, we have built shelves with drawers from Granit. Here, we now store everything from tablecloths and fur hats to workout gear and jewellery.

Now that we have heat in the boat, we can start focusing on some other things! We have wallpapered and started tiling the kitchen. We have never been fond of white (even though we know that you shall like white), so the white walls disappear. We have wallpapered with a black and silver wallpaper with a high-rise building motif.

Insuring this boat and our accommodation has not been easy ... We have talked to so many insurance companies, and most of them laugh or reply that it is impossible to insure a houseboat. So far we have managed to take out insurance, but it has not been easy.

The washing machine salesman wondered how we would fit the machine in the car. In the car! That was the least of the problems, so to speak ... We had calculated that the washing machine would fit in the boiler room, but hadn't really thought about how to get it there.
