I (Peter) was invited to try the new restaurant Palett in Vasastan in Stockholm, and it was a hit with my taste buds. I won't be surprised if a Michelin star eventually lands here, which will shine on Vasastan's Palett restaurant.

Last Tuesday, I (Helena) had a Christmas dinner at Vaxholm Castle with my work. The Christmas table was served in the atmospheric vaults of the castle, and we were offered lots of good dishes. Above all, it was a nice excursion by boat, to and from Vaxholm.

This weekend we visited a Persian restaurant in Stockholm, namely Tehran Grill on Rörstrandsgatan in Vasastan. It was only supposed to be a lunch, but it happened to develop into a very nice dinner with starters, main course and very nice socialising.

Manila in the Philippines is a capital city where many people land by plane, only to travel on to the country's many beautiful islands. A bit of a shame! It's true that in Manila you will find poverty and unsafe neighbourhoods, but this is also an exciting city filled with bustling markets, huge shopping malls and interesting history.

We have written about the restaurants before, but now we decided to gather them in one post for the sake of simplicity. Appenzell in Switzerland is really not much more than a rural village with amazingly good cheese. Or is it? Appenzell and Appenzellerland wowed us with the imaginatively decorated houses, the countless restaurants with local specialities, the rolling green landscape, the dramatic Hoher Kasten mountain and - not least - the ancient traditions of direct democracy in the town square instead of regular municipal elections.
