Updated: August 2026 | Camping Piantelle is a large and beautiful campsite in Moniga del Garda on Lake Garda. We stayed here for a few lazy days of camping life and sunbathing and swimming by the pool.

Camping Piantelle on Lake Garda

Camping Piantelle is a four-star campsite on the southwest side of Lake Garda. Here you can bring your camper, caravan or tent – or you can check into a cabin. We came here by camper, on our holiday trip with our 13-year-old son, after a few nights in other types of accommodation.

The road to Camping Piantelle

During our holiday trip we alternated between motorhomes, campsites and other types of accommodation, and Camping Piantelle was preceded by both farm accommodation and motorhomes.

Stay with a campervan on a farm

When we were wine tasting in the wine valleys of Valpolicella, we drove in the evening to a farm in Colá called Ca´Donzella. After asking if we could eat in the farm's restaurant, it was also possible to stay overnight in the motorhome at no extra cost.

We had a five course meal with wine and an incredible amount of food on their outdoor terrace. This was without a doubt the best Italian meal we have ever had. and at a reasonable price too.

The next night we found a campsite in Sirmione on the south side of Lake Garda. We enjoyed our stay at this campsite, but there was no electricity and after two nights without electricity we started to miss music, video games, computers and phones. We also had a 13-year-old with us who longed for a pool…

Camping Piantelle on Lake Garda

So we decided to go camping again, and this time it was Camping Piantelle, on the southwest side of Lake Garda. It costs a little more to camp here, compared to the simple places we found before, but the campsite is very nice.

There are excellent service buildings as well as a restaurant, bar, kiosk and convenience store with fresh bread. There is also a 25-meter outdoor pool, which was a hit with our family, as Billie really looked forward to swimming in the pool.

For those who want, there are also other activities such as a playground, SUP paddling and exercise opportunities.

Storm and hail

Mostly we had fantastic summer weather, perfect for sunbathing and swimming, but one day the lovely weather changed abruptly. We swam and sunbathed for a while and then came… the hail! None of us had ever seen such huge hailstones before, almost like golf balls!

The neighbours shielded themselves from the hail with their outdoor furniture and people gathered the hail in piles and took pictures. A few minutes later it started ... blowing. And when it blows here, it doesn't blow a little. It blows so hard that the tents fold and the outdoor furniture is blown away. And then ... it became sunny again.
