Updated: October 2026 | Ängsö camping is located on Lake Mälaren between Västerås and Enköping, near Ängsö nature reserve. We visited the campsite with a camper van in the spring of 2012 and enjoyed our first outdoor meal of the year. There are campsites with and without electricity, beaches and opportunities for excursions in the surrounding area.

Spring sun and camper life by the water
During our visit, it was quiet at the campsite. The sun was shining and we were able to sit outside for a few hours in the afternoon. After the winter, it felt extra nice to pull out the outdoor furniture and eat outside again.
We thought the campsite was nicely located by the water and spent our stay just taking it easy. We haven't been back since 2012, and the photos in the report are from that visit.
Campsites and service
According to its website, Ängsö camping has 180 electric pitches as well as areas for camping without electricity. There are two service buildings with toilets, showers, a laundry room, a latrine emptying facility and a kitchen for washing up and simple cooking.
The area also has two shallow beaches, a playground, mini golf and barbecue areas. During high season, a mini-market and catering are offered.
The campsite is stated to be open year-round, but the range of services varies with the season. According to the booking information, campsites are only booked on the same day, from 9 am. Check the current conditions on the Ängsö camping website before visiting.

The first trip was the last weekend in January, then a fricamp at Ängsö car park at the castle. next weekend Norrköping, Easter it will be by tradition Grisslehamn, with a boat trip on Easter Eve.

Ängsö is usually a good premiere campsite! We have been there several times, most recently last autumn. When it is low season, the owners want you to call BEFORE you arrive so they are prepared for the arrival, something I ALWAYS forget and therefore call when we are at the gate. And EVERY time she says that they have the lobster in the oven and had to cancel their dinner ........ Either they are doing a waltz or they eat lobster very often .... What do you think? 🙂

Ulrika, yes, it was an excellent and cosy campsite! Now it feels very sad to tell you that the owner apparently recently passed away. The owner was not on site when we were there, but campers who were there over the season did what they could to help with payment and keep order.
