Fish Company in Reykjavik – a food trip around the world

Updated: August 2026 | Fish Company, or Fiskfélagið, is a restaurant in central Reykjavik where Icelandic ingredients are combined with flavors and inspiration from different parts of the world. When we visited the restaurant, we chose the seven-course tasting menu ”Around the World” – a food journey that is actually still on the menu.

Fish Company in Reykjavik

Fish Company is located in the historic Zimsen House in central Reykjavik. The building was built in the 19th century and the restaurant is decorated in a cozy and atmospheric environment.

Seafood plays an important role on the menu, but there is also lamb and other Icelandic ingredients. What makes the concept a little extra fun is the combination of ingredients from Iceland and flavors from different parts of the world.

We chose a food trip around the world

When we visited Fish Company, we chose the ”Around the World” tasting menu, which consisted of seven courses. All were based on fine ingredients but drew inspiration from different parts of the world.

We had seafood, cod and grilled meats with flavor combinations inspired by places like Tahiti, Bali and the USA. The dinner ended with two desserts. It wasn't just a dinner, but a whole little food journey.

Around the World is still around

Of course, a lot has changed since our visit, and the exact dishes should therefore be seen as a memory from our dinner – not as today's menu.

But the idea itself lives on. Fish Company still offers its seven-course Around the World, where Icelandic ingredients are combined with inspiration and flavors from different parts of the world. The restaurant also has other tasting menus and à la carte dishes.

Is Fish Company worth a visit?

Our own visit was a few years ago, so we can't say how today's restaurant experience compares to the one we had. However, it's nice to see that much of what we appreciated still seems to be part of the concept.

For us, the tasting menu was a memorable evening – and for those who like fish and seafood, Icelandic ingredients and slightly unexpected flavor combinations, Fish Company can still be an interesting restaurant tip in Reykjavik.
