It's Monday and travel news again. This week we can tell you that children are designing trains for SJ and that Stockholm is 2nd on a list of welcoming cities in the world. We can also tell you that the Travel News Market trade fair is coming up very soon, which we are of course planning to attend.

Children design new X2000 trains
What should the new x2000 trains look like? That's what SJ is asking children aged six to eight to submit drawings of how the exterior should be painted. The winning drawing will be foiled onto an X2000 locomotive.
"Children can come up with solutions that we adults don't think of, or don't dare try. At the same time, children have a joy in their drawings that is contagious. It will be great fun to see the proposals we receive", says Anders Ekblom, coordinator of New X 2000.

Facebook is loved and hated
Recently, The Verge magazine conducted a study on the "big five" (Amazon, Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft) to find out what users think about the different companies. The study shows that opinions are strongest when it comes to Facebook.
People both love and hate the platform, and would miss it more than Apple if it disappeared. Many like the ability to stay in touch with friends and family (not least when travelling), while there are concerns about privacy issues.

Spain hottest this winter
Booking data from online travel agency eBeach.se shows that Spain and its islands are the most popular sun destinations among Swedish travellers this winter, with Gran Canaria at the top. Of the season's five most popular destinations, only one is outside Spain, Antalya in Turkey. The fastest growing destination is Halkidiki on the Greek mainland. Soon time for travel news market
On 9 November, it's time for the second edition of the travel industry fair Travel News Market. It will be a full day at Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre with about 160 exhibitors and 1,000 visitors. In the evening there will be an industry party at Café Opera. We will be there and monitor, and will of course return with a report!

Stockholm is 2nd on the list
A study by online travel agency TravelBird has ranked international cities and how welcoming they are in relation to their level of mass tourism. Singapore was found to be the most welcoming city, successfully managing its high level of visitors with the best airport in the world and the creation of a safe city ecosystem.
Stockholm is ranked number 2 out of 100, with a low level of mass tourism, a high level of happiness and safety, and a high perception from journalists regarding their welcome.

Hmmm, I always get sceptical when a company (eBeach) calls itself a sun expert and then includes Costa Brava as a winter destination for sun seekers. Well... Maybe we'll see you at Travel News Market anyway, would be nice! 🙂 Have a good day!

I haven't seen how they promote the south of Spain, but in winter it's obviously not a destination for sunbathing and swimming ...

6 November 1632 ...." Gustav Adolf Day.
It was a public holiday "in my day".
Good to know that Stockholm is so high on the list! Strong that
right after Singapore, which is fantastic.
Happy November!
(tragic shooting in a church in Texas yesterday - it really makes you sad)

Wow, I completely missed that it was Gustaf Adolfs Day! I don't even know if I knew there was such a day ... 😉 And unfortunately I have read about the terrible shooting. In Sweden, many people (including me) think that it is a problem that you so easily get weapons in the United States, but I have realised that many Americans think differently ...

Marina says:
Singapore and Stockholm at the top, yes I thank you 🙂 Fun idea to let children be involved in design because it is true that they think completely differently and often without our limitations. Have a good time at the fair, for my part I am on my way to Cannes and will stay there for a couple of weeks.

I also like the idea that children are involved in design! Think they can think freely in a different way 🙂 Wishing a really nice trip to Cannes!

Nice to see Spain at the top! I can partly understand that.
Halkidiki was there "in the past". Was there a number of times in the mid 80's, perhaps a new beginning!
Nice with Stockholm as second after Singapore, but probably Singapore feels much safer in every way than Stockholm, (I'm not worried about moving in Stockholm in the evening, but a lot happens)
I am also visiting the travel fair for work purposes. It will be fun!

Helena says:
I had actually not heard of Halkidiki until Peter was in Greece earlier this autumn. He was delighted! 🙂 And fun, then maybe we will see you at the fair!

As I still dare to refuse FB, so...
That Spain is at the top for a winter holiday does not surprise me. Fun with Antalya which is a really nice city!
Of course, it makes you feel a bit proud that Stockholm is second, and this after the famous Singapore - WOW! Here I was a bit surprised actually.

We have not been to Antalya. Glad to hear that you think it's a nice city! And of course it is nice of Sweden to come 2nd on the list 🙂.

Glad that Spain was at the top...and that Stockholm is placed as no.2. after Singapore. I myself am a VVF:er

For once we are doing the right thing? It will be Spain this winter for the whole thing, even if Portugal is there and lurking! It is nice in Turkey and Antalaya we have done, but it was a long time ago, and politically Turkey does not feel right now, too bad, because it is a nice country. Halkidiki is in our hearts ??? for a long time, and you can go there many times! That Stockholm is high is probably no surprise, it is my birthplace and given in mitt❤️!

Singapore? The city I liked the least on my triple in Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur-Singapore... was sworn at in shopping centres... lots of bushes on the sidewalks felt uncomfortable... hell of a job to change rooms that had ants... well... the other cities much more welcoming...
May have to give S a chance at some point....
Keep up the good work :-)!
