The dream of going on a sailing trip
We usually travel by motorhome and we love that life, for the freedom. Maybe that's also why we sometimes dream of sailing holidays. We often imagine that people who travel by campervan and by sailboat have certain things in common - they like to discover new places and they love the freedom of being able to choose their own route.
The motorhome has certain advantages, such as a longer season here in the Nordic countries, but the sailboat also has a strong appeal, not least because you get to be on the sea, which we both love.
We have sailed a few times - both as passengers and as crew on a larger sailing vessel - but most of all we have dreamed and talked about to go on a sailing trip. We have friends with a skipper's licence, and we have talked about renting a sailboat together in the Mediterranean. Another great option would be to go on a crewed sailing trip. Imagine being able to just relax, sit back and enjoy life at sea!

Dream sailing trip 1: Croatia
If we were to name just one destination where we dream of going on a sailing holiday, it would be Croatia. We have visited the country several times and we love the beautiful coastline of Dalmatia, and the crystal clear green shimmering water.
Croatia has an archipelago of over a thousand islands, islets and skerries, so there's plenty to discover. It almost feels like a must for us to come here and sail at some point in our lives!
Dream sailing trip 2: Sweden
A year ago we might not have mentioned Sweden as a dream sailing destination, but the pandemic has really made us discover our own country. Now we are following the west coast of Sweden with our motorhome and we keep coming across charming little towns, stunning nature and great guest harbours.
Here, with More Sailing, you can sail with a crew for six days and experience the archipelago from the "other side". Then you can easily visit islands such as the Weather Islands, which we have heard a lot about, but which are a good distance from land.
Dream sailing trip 3: The Caribbean

My big dream is the great seafaring nation of Greece with all its islands and its stories about Poseidon and others. Second and third for me are Croatia and Sweden.

Greece is certainly also fascinating to sail in, I can imagine! We have seen more to Croatia and therefore we may have been attracted there, but Greece does not sound stupid either! 🙂

We have sailed in Croatia, Greece, Mallorca and Menorca and a lot in Sweden. However, the Caribbean does not attract us. . When we have sailed abroad, we have rented a boat together with friends and have then managed the sailing ourselves. It has worked very well. In Sweden we have had our own boat.
But hiring a sailing boat is a good alternative if you don't know how to sail yourself.

Great! You are really experienced when it comes to sailing holidays! Sailing itself is exciting in its own way (although in that case we need company with a skipper's degree), but it also seems enjoyable to "just" go along! 🙂
