How about checking into one of the world's smallest hotels, tasting raw beef shortbread in Kødbyen and enjoying a cold anarchist in the sun. Or why not visit a secret speakeasy behind a bookshelf and combine dinner with funky wines at a trendy natural wine bar. I've come up with 5 different tips on how to take your Copenhagen trip to a whole new level.

Maybe you've "done" Copenhagen a few times and are ready to try something new? Nyhavn, the Little Mermaid, Danish pastries and cold Carlsberg are all well and good, but sometimes you want to do something that isn't on everyone else's obvious "to do" list. Then maybe some of my 5 different tips can come in handy the next time you visit Copenhagen. Don't forget to check out my travel blog! fantasydining.com and follow @fantasydining on Instagram for more tips and inspiration.

1. Check in at the Central Hotel & Café (one of the smallest hotels in the world).

Curious to stay in one of the smallest hotels in the world? The Central Hotel in Vesterbro has only one hotel room. Here, you would really dare to say that you have the whole hotel to yourself. The beautiful double room is located on the upper floor above Central Café, which is a tiny, very cute café that belongs to the hotel. The room costs 2.500 DKK and the price includes breakfast downstairs and a "free drink on the house" to welcome you.

2. Eat raw beef shortbread at Fleish in Kødbyen.

The lively Kødbyen neighbourhood in Copenhagen is often compared to New York's 'meat packing district'. Here, trendy restaurants and bars line up and the area has arguably Copenhagen's most vibrant nightlife. With the area's history as a meat factory and slaughterhouse, it's not surprising that many good meat restaurants have popped up in the area.

If you like meat, you can't miss Fleish - Kødbyen's own butcher, whose restaurant can be found behind plastic doors, reminiscent of a cold room. It serves organic meat from the country's best suppliers, and if you come here at lunchtime you'll find a wide range of sandwiches. Try the sandwich with raw beef, it tasted fantastic!

3. drink a cold Anarchist

Anarkist Bar can be found opposite the central station next to the well-known Tivoli. It serves a wide range of Anarkist's own exciting and challenging beers, served alongside delicious burgers and other bar food. You will also find an equally large selection of specially brewed beers from other breweries on tap and in bottles. If you're a beer enthusiast, this is the first place to put on your map.

4. Finding the secret speakeasy Curfew

Curious to find a secret "speakeasy" in the 1920s prohibition era? Curfew can be found behind a hidden bookshelf. In order to find it, you have to know that there is a cocktail bar at this address. He who seeks finds, they say.

Once you have found the entrance, you have to ring the doorbell. If you are lucky enough to be let in, the secret door in the bookcase will open. The interior of the cocktail bar is absolutely stunning and, like a magic trick, you are transported back to a 20s speakeasy. The drinks are expensive but extremely well made and, combined with the atmosphere, worth every Danish krone.

5. Combine dinner with natural wine

The combination of food and drink is becoming an increasing interest for most people today. Especially when we travel and want to treat ourselves to that little extra, both in the glass and on the plate. When it comes to wine, the Danes are (surprisingly) several steps ahead of us, at least when it comes to natural wine. This results in a fun and different range of natural wine bars in Copenhagen.

At Ancestrale, you really have the chance to try exciting and unusual wines (also referred to as "funky") that the skilled, wine-savvy staff combine with equally exciting dishes. Platters with variations of leek, for example, are served with the exciting natural wine "Just enjoy" from Slovakia. The dishes are small but delicious, so expect to order several dishes during the evening with different "pairings" of natural wine.
