Premiere of SJ night train Stockholm-Hamburg

1 September marks the premiere of SJ's new night train from Stockholm to Stockholm.Hamburg. This is the start of a daily, year-round train service between Sweden and Central Europe. Ticket sales started on 27 April. The departure from Stockholm is at 17:34, and after several stops, the train arrives at its final destination at around 06:30. The night train from Hamburg departs at 21:55 and arrives in Stockholm at 09:55.

Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg celebrates 5 years - with drone show

Concert halls Elbe Philharmonic Hall in Hamburg is celebrating five years this year. In those years, over 2,900 concerts have been given and the Plaza viewpoint has been visited by 14.5 million people. A highlight of the anniversary took place on 28 April, with a light show around the concert hall with 300 drones, created by the artist duo DRIFT. At the same time, the "Hamburg International Music Festival" started, which will run until 1 June.

The Göta Canal is now open

When Göta Canal opening on 3 May marks the start of the anniversary year and the 200th anniversary of the canal. The opening of the canal will be celebrated on 3 May in Motala in the presence of Minister for Economic Affairs Karl Petter Thorwaldsson and in Norrkvarn on 4 May. For the 2022 season, the Göta Canal sees four main trends:

  1. Foreign tourists are returning
  2. Land-based nature experiences (hiking and cycling) continue to be hot.
  3. Canal cruise and boat holidays
  4. Tailor-made package holidays, combining different activities.

Great demand for archipelago trips at Stromma

After the release of the pandemic restrictions, the desire to meet and be active is great. Stromma has noticed a sharp increase in interest in the company's experiences. Italy is back as a charter destination

Now Swedes can finally book their trips to their favourite destination Italy again. The first flight with TUI takes off on 18 May. Sicily and Sardinia are two popular Italian destinations that can now be booked as charter holidays. It is also possible to book package holidays to Rome and Milan for those who want to feel the pulse of the city.

Reflection of the week
