Flight from Stockholm to Split

Yesterday we left for Arlanda to fly to Split. When we were recently at an event with the Croatian Tourist Board, we learned that SAS will invest heavily in direct flights to Croatia in 2023, with routes to Split, Dubrovnik and Pula. Right now, however, it was not possible to fly directly, so we flew Stockholm - Frankfurt - Split, first with Lufthansa and then with Croatia Airlines.

On board Lufthansa we had the luxury of flying Business Class, which allowed us to enjoy a really good and fresh breakfast on board.

Then it was a few hours at the airport in Frankfurt. (I must say that after the two months of the summer in Germany felt quite homely to hear German again.) Then it was finally time for the last flight to Split!

On board Croatia Airlines we also had Business Class and were offered an exciting little snack box with goodies from Croatia, including salami, biscuits and a small walnut cake.

Arriving in lovely Split - mild climate and Christmas spirit

Then it was time to finally get off the plane in lovely Split. Although it is December, the climate is mild here, with around 15 degrees during the day and sunshine. So nice!

We went directly to our hotel - Radisson Blu Resort & Spa - which, among other things, turned out to offer an absolutely wonderful view of the sea, from our balcony. We will tell you more about the hotel a little later, when we have had time to look around properly.

In the early evening we walked along the promenade, from our hotel and into the centre of Split. A fantastic walk!

In Split we had a rather simple, but much needed and tasty pizza dinner.

We also had time to look around the beautiful and historic old town centre, which is currently illuminated and decorated to the teeth. Really cosy!

Split is much quieter at this time of year than in the high season, but even in winter this is a lively city with shops, restaurants and mingling. There is also a Christmas market and other Christmas events.

We can only say that it feels incredibly cosy to be back in Split, and that it is nice here even this time of year.

We will tell you much more soon, but it will take a few days for us to see and experience a bit more first. In the meantime, there will of course be other reports, which we have prepared in advance. In addition, you can of course follow us every day on Instagram, at @freedomtravelnews.

Now we just want to wish all our readers and friends a Merry Christmas!
