Housecar becomes MyCamper

The company Housecar, a sharing service where private individuals rent out motorhomes and caravans, has officially become MyCamper. The website address has also changed from Housecar.se / Housecar.no / Housecar.fi to MyCamper.com. The company writes that they have already been working closely with their Swiss partners MyCamper.ch, and have now decided to merge completely. For you as a vehicle owner or renter, nothing will change, except for the new name and web address.

Motorhome industry resumes battle over motorhome taxation

Fairer taxation of new motorhomes is top of the agenda for the newly elected chairman of the Swedish Motorhome and Caravan Association (HRF), Per Nilsson. Motorhomes have fallen between the cracks when calculating the taxation of CO2 emissions and the bonus/malus system for environmental management. To rectify this injustice, HRF, in cooperation with SCR Svensk Camping, Caravan Club and the Swedish Association of Vehicle Repairers, is running the The campervan fight since 2019. Now, with many new MEPs, the Motorhome Campaign is intensifying.

Rising fuel prices are changing the way Swedes drive.

Tyre manufacturer Goodyear asked 1 000 Swedish motorists about their driving habits. It turns out that 54% have changed their driving behaviour as a result of current fuel prices. The most common change is to drive more economically, by making more use of EcoDriving. This is reported by 43 per cent, while 36 per cent say they have started to reduce their speed. In addition, almost a third say they ease off the throttle when going downhill and one in five say they make sure their tyres are properly inflated.

Viking Line sells the vessel Rosella

The trotter Rosella has operated in Viking Line's fleet since 1980, and the vessel's service within Viking Line has come to an end. Even though she has been well maintained and is of a good standard, she will not be able to meet Viking Line's high standards for minimising environmental impact, especially with regard to carbon dioxide emissions. Viking Line has agreed on a sale to the Greek Aegean Sealines Maritime Co. Rosella will fly the Greek flag and operate in the Aegean Sea.

New express lift in the centre of Åre

SkiStar in Åre is opening up for another winter season of fantastic skiing. Last Saturday, 10 December, the new express lift was inaugurated. The star lift in the centre of Åre. The new six-chair lift replaces the old WC lift from 1976 and has a capacity of 2,600 people/hour in winter.

2023 is the 'year of the sauna' in Estonia

The year 2023 is dedicated to saunas in the Estoniaand many different events will be organised. With the Year of the Sauna, its organiser, the Estonian Rural Tourism Organisation, aims to highlight the culture and entrepreneurship of saunas. For over ten years, the town of Otepää has hosted the European Sauna Marathon. Participating teams are given a map of saunas to find and try. Most teams are usually Estonian, but Latvia, Finland and even Mexico have participated.

Norwegian starts flying to Spain from Skavsta and Växjö.

Norwegian is expanding its route network and launching direct flights to Spain from two new airports not previously served by the company. Starting in April 2023, Norwegian will fly from Stockholm Skavsta Airport to Malaga and Alicante and from Växjö Småland Airport to Malaga.
