Saturday in town with friends
This weekend we met our good friends Lennart and Beata in town. We usually take turns taking each other on various nice little excursions or amusements, and this Saturday they took us on an "art tour" among the galleries on Götgatan. Then we had a really good meal at Bistro Süd and a drink at Hotel Rival on Mariatorget. What a great day!
Getting things done (that should have been done a long time ago)
The rest of the week has been a bit more mundane, and we have tried to take care of things ... One thing that has long given us grey hair is that we have subscribed to payment terminals from Nets, to be able to pay at fairs. But how often do we do that? In fact, we don't do it at all anymore. It's still great to shop in our online shopbut we no longer have stock at home, and we will not sell products at fairs. In other words, we pay a fee every month for no reason at all...
At last we have taken the step of cancelling the contract, which also meant looking for the terminals in our warehouse. Not an easy task, but shame on us. Now they are not only found, but also returned! One less expense for the company, and we thank you for that...!
Looking towards the Elmia Fair and Destination Square 2024
The fair Scandinavian Caravan Show will be held this year on 11-15 September. There is still some time to go, but we are already working hard on a new version of the event. Destination Square. As partners of Elmia, we (and not least Peter's brother Micke) are working on this project together with Elmia. We repeat last year's success and there will once again be a hall with exhibitors and lecturers focusing on travel destinations, as well as various happenings such as the "Destination of the Year" award and entertainment.
This week we have updated our page on Destination Square 2024 - check it out if you want to know more! You may also want to suggest a business you know of (e.g. a campsite, caravan park or tourist destination) that would like to exhibit? The prices are good and there are also special solutions for small businesses, which may not have many resources but still want to be seen.
A new concept at FREEDOMtravel
This week we have also introduced a new concept at FREEDOMtravel: Wednesday room. The idea is that every Wednesday we will present a post with "thoughts on large and small". It can be about social media, blogging, the world situation, environmental issues, social sustainability, different aspects of travelling, risk perception, motorhome life, visions of the future, everyday phenomena or just about anything really. Simply things that we think about ...
We have also written these kinds of thoughts before, but now we felt that we wanted to try to have it as a standing theme. Whether it will be good and whether we will continue in the long term? Time will tell. We are testing for a while, and it is fun if you want to join the discussion with a comment! We wrote the first post on Wednesday: Will Facebook and Instagram die? (And what will replace them?)

What winter weather we have!
By the way, we just have to say that wow, what winter weather we have! It is usually said that snow only remains in Stockholm for a week or two, but now it feels like we have had snow for ages. For our part, this also means that we have some ice in our "ice-free" marina.
The propellers, which are supposed to keep the marina ice-free, are not quite enough when it gets really cold for a long time and the marina's people drive around in small boats breaking up the ice to help ...
For us, that means a lot of "thumping" of ice floes against the hull. The sound, which is not so loud outdoors, has the ability to propagate through the hull so that it almost roars at night ... Well, at least we don't have a garden to take care of ...
Best this week
Best thing about this week? That we took care of a lot of things that we needed to fix, and that the trip to South Africa is approaching. Your turn ... what can you highlight as positive from your week?
The week ahead
We are still at home in Stockholm for almost another week, but now the trip to South Africa is fast approaching. This weekend we will have Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra here for dinner to plan - they will also come down to South Africa, at the end of our trip.

So fun to plan for a long trip! Something we really look forward to even if nothing is planned at the moment.
We have indeed had wonderful winter weather, although it has been interrupted, sometimes every other day, by snowfall and gale force winds.
This year we have really booked Elmia in the calendar because it has been many years since we were there and most years we have only been there for a day visit, something we thought we would change this year.
Here the week has just disappeared so if it goes as fast in the future we can soon pick up the motorhome again.....
