Fantastic days in Croatia - and back in the motorhome

Writer: Helena Bergström

We have had absolutely fantastic days in Croatia! We have enjoyed sun, crystal clear water, good food, nice company and nice historical places. Croatia has an incredibly beautiful coast and to experience this from a delicious and personal cruise ship ... wow, we just say!

Fantastic days in Croatia

Croatia is always a good idea, so to speak, and if you have the opportunity, it's not a bad idea to come as a tourist in the early or late season. We found April to be a great month, with good weather and a relaxed atmosphere. But it should be said that it can be a bit chilly in the evenings, so if you want to be sure of stable heat, May might be a safer bet.

Nice evenings in Croatia in April

We have cruised with the ship Futura, from the shipping company Katarina Line. It feels wrong to say that it is a "smaller" ship (it looks gigantic when you see it in the small harbours!) but compared to the really big cruise ships, which go on the big seas, it is much smaller and more personal. The ship we travelled on takes up to 36 passengers plus crew.

Great company

The cruise we went on was a so-called "famtrip", i.e. a trip organised for travel agents, so that they can learn about the product they then sell to customers. The trip was a shortened version (4 days instead of 8) compared to the "real" packages, but long enough for us to have a great experience.

We travelled together with representatives of other travel agencies, from Sweden, England, Wales, USA and Taiwan. An absolutely wonderful, committed and lovely group. We really had so fun together!

We think that's exactly what happens on a trip like this - there are just enough people to make new acquaintances and have a good time together, while you can easily choose when you feel like socialising and not. And yes, we plan to sell packages with Katarina Line cruises in our travel agency - it will come as soon as we get time!

End of the cruise and a last day in Split

The cruise we went on started in Split and also ended in Split. We said goodbye to everyone (almost a bit emotional after these intense days together!) and then spent the day in Split, hanging out at outdoor cafes, and at the same time doing some work at the computers. Then it was time to fly back to Munich!

Back in the campervan

Munich airport is big, but we are slowly learning our way around. To get to the motorhome (which was waiting in the long-term car park), we had to take the S-Bahn one station to "Besucherpark". There the camper was waiting, as if nothing had happened!

We searched for a place to stay nearby, using the "Park for Night" app and spent the night there. Thanks to the new solar panels we installed the battery was fully charged. In addition, summer has come to the south of Germany, so we are as hot here now as we were in Croatia!

Best this week

Bäst denna vecka? Ja, det är det ju ingen tvekan om. Kryssningen i Kroatien förstås! Detta blir ett minne för livet verkligen. Helt fantastiskt!

Your turn ... what has been the best part of your week, big or small?

The week ahead

For us, the journey continues in the motorhome. We'll be heading for France, where we've scouted out a few places we want to see. After that, another cruise awaits us ... but of a completely different kind. Come along and you'll see!

Here at FREEDOMtravel you can expect reports about the cruise with Katarina Line and about places in Croatia, mixed with reports by our other writers. Now we take the opportunity to wish you a really nice Friday and weekend!
