Of course, the best ferry and route to choose depends on many different factors. For example, you might consider:
- Where am I travelling from?
- Where am I going?
- Do I have vehicles with me?
- What season/month/day of the week/time of day do I want to travel?
- What service do I want?
- What am I prepared to pay?

Which ferries run from Sweden to Finland?
When you want to take a ferry from Sweden to Finland, there are several options. Finnlines' two new ferries - Finnsirius and Finncanopus - are super stylish and modern, and perhaps best suited to those travelling by vehicle.
Viking Line and Tallink Silja Line also have nice ships and are good and pleasant options even for those travelling without a vehicle - often with entertainment and different themes. Wasaline can be an excellent choice if you live in the northern part of the country.

Which ferries run from Sweden to Åland?
Eckerölinjen is a popular line that runs between Grisslehamn and Eckerö. Tallink Silja Line and Viking Line are good alternatives for those who want to go directly to Mariehamn. Finnlines is another option, which may be suitable for those travelling by car or motorhome.

Which ferries run from Sweden to Estonia?
If you want to travel by ferry to Estonia, you can either travel Stockholm-Tallinn, with Viking Line or Tallink Silja Line, or you can travel Kapellskär-Paldiski with Tallink Silja Line or DFDS. Please note that not all lines may operate in all seasons.

Which ferries run from Sweden to Latvia?
If you want to travel by ferry from Sweden to Latvia, Stena Line usually operates the Nynäshamn - Ventspils route. On occasional dates, cruises to Riga are also organised with Viking Line and Birka Gotland.

If you want to travel by ferry from Sweden to Lithuania, you can start from Karlshamn or Trelleborg. Regardless of the departure point, and regardless of the company, you will end up in Klaipeda. The two companies that operate are DFDS and TT-Line.

Are you planning to take a ferry to Germany? Then there are also several options. If you are travelling directly from Sweden, you can choose to start your journey in Gothenburg, Malmö or Trelleborg. Ferries also run from Denmark to Germany.

Want to take a ferry from Sweden to Denmark? The Öresund Line is a fast and convenient line that runs between Helsingborg and Helsingör. Other good options are Stena Line's lines that start from Gothenburg or Halmstad.

You can often travel to Norway by land, but there is also a ferry that runs from Strömstad in Sweden to Sandefjord in Norway. The crossing takes 2.5 hours.

The Gotland ferry is the one I have travelled most times! Nådendals, Åland, Helsingör I have travelled... hmm do not remember any more,

It's great that there are so many options, even for those without a car.
A good thing is that Birka Gotland has tickets where you can go with the ship one day from Stockholm, go ashore in Visby, stay on Gotland and later go back to Stockholm with a suitable departure. We tried it last year and so much nicer than the regular ferry from Nynäshamn. Perfect as we don't have a car with us.

Not to be forgotten to Denmark is also Ystad-Rønne. There is also a ferry to Germany from there if you want to combine it with Bornholm.
