Unity Line Świnoujście–Ystad – our experiences with the ferry

Here we tell you about our experiences of the ferry, the food and life on board – and about how it works to take the car across the Baltic Sea between Poland and Sweden.

From Szczecin to the ferry in Świnoujście

Before the ferry trip home to Sweden, we spent a night in Szczecin. We have visited the city before, in the summer, but this time we encountered a much calmer and more autumnal Szczecin.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu and had dinner at the brewery restaurant Browar pod Zamkiem, before it was time to continue towards the ferry port in Świnoujście. If you want to stay in the city, you can find all our tips in our big guide to Szczecin.

Unity Line is part of POLSCA

Since spring 2026, Unity Line, together with Polferries and EuroAfrica, has been part of the joint brand POLSCA Baltic Ferries. Tickets are now sold under POLSCA, while the names Unity Line and Polferries are still used. When we made this trip, we traveled with Unity Line and the ferry Polonia.

Unity Line Świnoujście–Ystad

Our journey back to Sweden was with Unity Line from Świnoujście to Ystad. It is a practical ferry connection for those traveling between southern Sweden and Poland, especially if you have a car or camper with you.

We chose a daytime departure and were therefore able to spend most of the trip in the restaurants and common areas on board. Even though we were traveling during the day, we had booked a cabin, which we appreciated when we wanted to retreat and rest for a while. When we left, the trip took about 8 hours.

On board the Polonia

On board the Polonia there was everything we needed for the crossing, including restaurants, a bar and a shop. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, and we alternated between eating at the restaurants, hanging out at the bar, looking at the view and resting in the cabin.

Lunch and dinner on board

Given that we left at lunchtime and arrived late in the evening, it was both lunch and dinner on board for our part. We had lunch in the buffet restaurant, where we had schnitzel and french fries.

In the evening, we ate in the slightly fancier Royal restaurant. Micke went for a piece of meat, while Peter and I chose to eat a goulash soup. We were all very satisfied with both the food and the service.

Arrival in Ystad

We arrived in Ystad in the evening. Since we had a meeting early the next morning, we stayed one night in the city before continuing our road trip north towards Stockholm.

What did we think of Unity Line Świnoujście–Ystad?

For us, the trip with Unity Line between Świnoujście and Ystad worked very well. A day ferry of course means many hours on board, but with restaurants, a shop and your own cabin, the trip was comfortable. Above all, the ferry is a convenient way to get between Poland and southern Sweden by car or camper.
