A visit to Szczecin

After the visit to lovely and beautiful Gdansk, our road trip continued along the Polish coast. We had booked meetings with two different cooperation partners, and then we looked around the Polish city. Szczecin.

Krakowresor

We've been here once before - that time it was summer and a festival, and there was a great atmosphere in the city. This time it was autumn and much quieter.

We, that is Peter, Helena and Peter's brother Micke, checked out some sights such as Hakenterrasse and the special concert hall Mieczysława Karłowicza.

We stayed one night at the Radisson Blu, which was excellent.

In the evening, we went out for good Polish food at the Browar pod Zankiem restaurant and brewery. A nice autumn visit to Szczecin!

Unity Line from Poland to Ystad

Our road trip to Poland was relatively short and soon it was time to travel back to Sweden, with Unity Line from Poland to Ystad, or more precisely from Swinoujscie to Ystad. The journey takes about 8 hours and we travelled during the day.

On board the Polonia

We travelled with the ferry Polonia, and although we travelled during the day, we had a cabin, which was nice because you can lie down and rest for a while. On board the ferry there is an a la carte restaurant, a buffet restaurant, a bar and a relatively large and well-stocked shop. Some weekend evenings there is also a disco on board.

Lunch and dinner on board the

Given that we left at lunchtime and arrived late in the evening, it was both lunch and dinner on board for our part. We had lunch in the buffet restaurant, where we had schnitzel and french fries.

In the evening, we ate in the slightly fancier Royal restaurant. Micke went for a piece of meat, while Peter and I chose to eat a goulash soup. We were all very satisfied with both the food and the service.

A night in Ystad

At about 8 o'clock in the evening we arrived in fine Ystad. If you haven't been here, we recommend a visit, but for us it was just an overnight stay (and an early morning meeting the next day) before continuing our journey north.

We first tried to book accommodation at Ystad station, where Peter and Micke had stayed once before, but it was full. Instead it was Hotel Prins Carl, which also turned out to be super cosy.

When we arrived, we were given a code so that we could collect our keys from a key cabinet. Then there were corridors with delicious decor, cosy rooms and a breakfast in a pleasant environment.

We then continued the journey up towards Stockholm - with a number of important meetings along the way - and now we are back in the houseboat again...
