At the magical time of ONE o'clock, we hang on the lock when Liseberg opens, the grandchildren and dad Erik are excited, grandma Anna less so ... Roller coasters and fast rides have never been my thing.

Oh my God there is stuff to go, some of it makes me sick just looking at it...

Elsa, almost 5, and I go one thing after another, the rabbit country has a lot to offer for those who are a little smaller and have a terrified grandmother.

A small roller coaster for small children should not be so dangerous, I thought, how wrong I was. After half a lap I pull the jacket over my head to avoid looking, Elsa laughs at me. Had it been ONE lap, I would have stood out, but unfortunately it was two.

Alice likes all the scary rides, she and Erik go on them several times. They come back with tousled hair and red cheeks.

The teacups, yuck, I wish I had a barf bag with me. What a fool I am.

The rabbit train, just the way I like it, travelling slowly and gently in a train through a rabbit wonderland where the rabbits sit in the toilet in a long line.

It's raining, windy and freezing cold, we're playing candy wheels, Alice is winning, HURRA!

I order a coffee to warm me up, the most disgusting coffee I've ever had, go and change the coffee and get an equally disgusting one. Hu vale.

The children hug the green rabbits that are the symbol of this amusement park.

Liseberg has been around for 102 years, it's probably 30 years since I was here last. I remember the flumeride very well and immediately decide that I don't care, the others go, Erik sits first and gets soaked of course.

We have a coffee break, there is an endless supply of refreshments. The madness continues with one attraction after another.

A stage shows the theatre of the day, let's take a look!

Face painting, of course. Very talented make-up artists turn Alice into a dangerous tiger and Elsa into a beautiful butterfly.

You have to have food, in the centre of the whole mess is a big restaurant with not too many people. The pizza would have been better suited as a frisbee. No, much at Liseberg feels semi-finished and fast food, no stars from Grandma Anna.

After another x number of rides, the day is over, we didn't manage to do all of the 40 or so rides, but almost! 8 hours with some rain was just right.

We take another hotel night, no bedtime stories needed. The next day the car is signed out for a lovely 425 bucks in parking fee, we drive home with a longer stop in the polka pig city Gränna.

Gränna is, as usual, far too small for all the tourists who have to park both motorhomes and buses. Lake Vättern looks cold and grey and does not invite to a swim.

FIKA we will do, lovely with a café with old-fashioned pastries in the form of buns, puff pastry waffles and honest old vacuum cleaners.

Along the main street, the candy shops are crowded, a candy cane does not look like a candy cane from the past, I note. In my quiet mind, I wonder what candy cane founder Amalia Eriksson thinks about it all?

We land at home, enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside and talk about next summer's secret trip.

Grandma's wallet is dusting, even if they were great days, fun is not free!
