Time flies and it's already Friday again! I don't even know where the days have gone, but it has been quite a lot of everyday life and work for us ... interspersed with the beautiful nature of Sardinia of course!
Table of contents
Varied experiences in Sardinia
We think that Sardinia offers opportunities for varied experiences. We have rented a boat, travelled on guided boat excursion, made a hiking in a ravine, visited a historical attraction and strolled in a cosy town (report on Saturday!). We sunbathe and swim for a while almost every day - even when we have work and fixer days, there is usually room to go for a swim. And yes, nice beaches are a bit everywhere here in Sardinia!

Fricamping - and a more relaxed approach to camping
Lately, we've been doing quite a lot of free camping, which is good for the wallet. The last time we went camping was in Portixeddu, on the west coast, when we needed to wash clothes and bed linen.
One thing we reflect on here (and in the whole of southern Europe really!) is that there seems to be a more relaxed approach to camping. You see a lot of older motorhomes and the vast, vast majority of people are camping with tents or some kind of mini-caravan or maybe a car with a roof tent.

It is perhaps a little easier to camp when it is almost always warm, but it also feels like there is a little less status thinking about the equipment compared to Sweden.
It's all about getting out into nature, one way or another. We see lots of hammocks, but we haven't seen a single motorhome with hydraulic outriggers (a solution to make the motorhome stand up straight with a simple push of a button, for around 70,000 SEK), which is quite common in Sweden.

For us, too, the "luxury" is about experiencing the beautiful nature of Sardinia. In addition, we often indulge in good food - at home in the motorhome!

Everyday management ...
Some days consist entirely of everyday chores. At the campsite Ortus de Mari In Portixeddu we spent two days washing and cleaning.

At the same time, we had some time to make clothes. Because yes, of course we have a small sewing kit with us with needle and thread and other things that you might need!

... and jobs
We work too, of course, and sometimes it feels a bit "scattered". Writing is the most fun - and it might not even qualify as work, it's more like a hobby! What definitely does qualify as work, however, is working on advertising, statistical reports to clients, email correspondence with prospective clients, compiling sponsored articles, video meetings with partners, planning in our new role as tourism ambassadors for Uzbekistan, accounting, invoicing and similar.
We are also currently planning, together with our partner Your Brand Travel, to be able to organise a group trip through our travel agency FREEDOM Xplore until next spring. It's a lot of work, of course, and so the focus is on the group trip rather than on putting together new packages.
But, of course, there are still a lot of experience packages to check out, both for those travelling by motorhome and for those who want to stay in a hotel or cottage:
This week: Grateful for ...
This week we are grateful for the opportunity to free camp in Sardinia, which allows us to keep our daily costs down. This, combined with the fact that we have income from our digital job, means that we are able to continue travelling, which we are incredibly grateful for!
Your turn ... What are you most grateful for this week?

The week ahead
We are still in Sardinia, while the ferry journey to the Italian mainland is slowly approaching. The rest of the time in Sardinia will be free camping, swimming and visiting the main town Cagliari. Here at FREEDOMtravel you can expect reports about a super picturesque little town and how we have organised everything in the motorhome during this long trip!
Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!

How nice that you continue to have such a good time in Sardinia! Regarding camping and flashy gear - I wouldn't have a clue and have zero status consciousness. That means I don't care what car we drive, what brand of clothes or what designer made my plates. I do, however, like beautiful things, and unfortunately there is sometimes an equation between the most beautiful and the most expensive. By the way, I am grateful every day for life. We have it so good. Have a nice weekend, Helena!

We are like you when it comes to this! We don't care about status or brands. But we do like nice things. Sometimes it's more expensive, sometimes cheaper... 😉

A colleague was camping in Lofoten this summer and reported the same trend there, that most people seem to come with simpler equipment. Lots of tents, roof tents, simple vans etc. Even Swedes as I understood it. So maybe it's a general trend on the rise?
Exciting with the group trip, will be super fun to see where it will go! 🙂

That's interesting! Yes, maybe it's a general trend? We've mostly thought about it here in southern Europe, but I'll think about whether it's changing up north too! We like it when camping becomes a bit more unpretentious and inclusive! 🙂

Of course there are everyday chores even when travelling with the motorhome. Fricamping to find places and just relax when you arrive. Geocaching is a great hobby along with motorhome great opportunity to find overnight places.

Fricamping can be great! We haven't tried geocaching, but we've hung out with some others who did it once and it was nice! 🙂

Sardinia just sounds so nice and cosy to find fricamping sites, keeping down the cost of accommodation does a lot when the trips are long or they do us when we live in Laikan. And of course there is a weekday. This week we have combined business with pleasure and lived on the daughter's driveway. Then we have socialised and cooked for the grandson boys while the motorhome got some love, the freezer has been frosted out, the washing machine has had to work, etc. A nice week in a wonderful weather and with many baths in Lake Vänern. Have a great time!

Sardinia is beautiful and there are opportunities for fricamping! Good for economic reasons, but can also be very nice and cosy! It sounds like you had a nice week, wish you a nice weekend!

I look forward to reading about your visit to Cagliari. As an asphalt farmer and city dweller, I always find it exciting with new cities.
Mending clothes, I didn't see that one coming. I've never mended clothes, but I remember my mum doing it often. Why not - back to basic and recycling is "healthy" it is said; -)

City reports are coming! 🙂 And yes, we fix clothes a little now and then! 😉

🎖Congratulations first and foremost on becoming a tourism ambassador! It's great when your reports are appreciated!
We have also noticed that there is more variety in camping. We would probably have gone for a roof tent in our younger days! I am happy to follow Vanlife groups.
Sure, it's ok with levelling legs for 70,000, but we still use level blocks and spirit levels for a few hundred! More challenge and you can always grumble about the husband who does not think it leans too much to the left. 🤣
So roll on, you'll soon be on the mainland after the islands! We'll be right behind you!

I'm glad you're having a great time there in Sardinia. Fricamping is of course wonderful when possible. I immediately thought that maybe it's a generational issue in terms of support legs 🙂 When I was younger I could sleep on a sleeping mat on a rooty ground, now I want a comfortable bed. The RSs flow better but not the 100%.
