We have now awarded the Destination of the Year 2025 - Europe and Sweden - at Elmia Husvagn Husbil 2025. As usual, it's a special feeling to be at the Elmia fair, and to hand out awards. It's especially fun when the readers and visitors have once again been involved in voting!

On site at Elmia Caravan Motorhome
We've been at Elmia Husvagn Husbil for most of the week, and as usual there's a great atmosphere at the show. Of course, it's great to see all the new models and hear about all the new camping trends.
But the best part is, without a doubt, meeting all your friends and acquaintances - motorhome sellers, campsite owners, destinations, journalists, influencers, motorhome travellers, campers and all sorts of others. It is quite simply very, very funny to be here!

European Destination of the Year 2025: Colmar, France
On Friday afternoon, 12 September, it was time for us to award the "Destination of the Year Europe 2025" prize. This year, the Swedish prize went to ... drum roll ... Colmar in France!
This charming and picturesque town is located in the north-east of France, near the border with Germany, in the Alsace wine region. We highly recommend travelling here!
Colmar is a lovely destination for motorhome travellers. In Colmar you can enjoy a picturesque city, filled with half-timbered houses and winding canals. Beyond the fairytale setting the city offers a warm welcome to motorhome travellers with several well-located campsites and stopovers.

The French destination of Colmar was not able to attend the award ceremony, but the prize has already been delivered to the Colmar Tourist Office. Johny Royer, Directeur de l'Office de Tourisme de Colmar, thanks for the award and warmly welcomes Swedish motorhomers to Colmar!

Destination Sweden 2025: Öland
On Saturday afternoon, 12 September, it was time for us to present the award for "Destination Sweden of the Year 2025". We at FREEDOMtravel had nominated five destinations and the readers and fair visitors then got to vote on Elmia's website. The nominated destinations were Söderhamn, Öregrund, Hunnebostrand, Kalmar and Öland.
After voting, the Swedish prize went to ... drum roll ... Öland! From nature and beaches to culture and history, this beautiful and sunny island offers everything and we highly recommend a visit here.
Öland is a great destination for motorhome travellers. On Öland you can experience fantastic beaches and beautiful nature, but also lots of history and culture. Motorhome travellers feel welcome, and there are plenty of nice pitches and campsites.

Hans Gerremo, chairman of Ölands besöksnäring AB, had recorded a film, where they thank for the award, which we had to play on stage. In addition, representatives from Öland will come to the fair on Saturday to receive the award.

Congratulations to the Destination of the Year 2025: Colmar (Europe) and Öland (Sweden)! Have you visited these destinations, or are they on your list?

Amanda (Swedish Passport) says:
But what fun! Congratulations to the winners. I've been wanting to go to Colmar for a long time - even though I don't have a motorhome 😉
