Who said that camping season has to end when summer is over? Autumn is a fantastic time to travel by motorhome or caravan! The nature changes to yellow, orange and red, the air is fresh and the pace becomes a little slower. Plus, there is something very special about coming back to a warm and cozy home on wheels after a day full of experiences.

Discover the best of autumn camping

We love to travel during the summer, but autumn actually has its own charm. When the big holiday crowds have subsided, a different kind of experience awaits. The roads are quieter, it's easier to find nice places to stay, and nature offers colors and moods that you can't find at any other time of year.

Traveling by camper or caravan also gives you wonderful freedom. You can follow the weather, stay where it's beautiful and let your days shape themselves according to your desires and inspiration. Maybe it'll be a long walk in the forest, a visit to an autumn market or a whole day overlooking a quiet lake?

Nature offers a colorful spectacle

One of the great highlights of autumn is of course all the colors. Deciduous forests that glow in yellow and orange, red blueberries and heather that color the landscape in shades of purple. When the sun peeks out, the autumn landscape can almost feel unreal beautiful.

The great thing about camping is that the nature experiences often start right outside your door. You don't have to plan any big excursions to enjoy the fall. Sometimes all you need to do is step outside with a cup of coffee, take a deep breath, and look around.

The silence when summer is over

During autumn, the atmosphere at many campsites and popular holiday areas also changes. Where it was previously full of life and activity, you can now experience a pleasant calm.

Maybe you wake up to birdsong and see the mist lifting over the lake. Maybe it's completely silent, except for the wind rustling in the trees. There's plenty of time for slow breakfasts, spontaneous walks and just being. For us, this is one of the great advantages of traveling outside the high season. You get the opportunity to experience places at a different pace.

Mushroom picking and all the flavors of autumn

Autumn is also a wonderful time for those who enjoy food and nature's pantry. Going out into the forest with a basket and looking for chanterelles or porcini mushrooms can be a little adventure in itself. We ourselves think there is something very special about finding your own chanterelles. And it gets even better when they end up in a frying pan with butter and then served on a piece of good bread!

Autumn also offers apples, root vegetables, pumpkins and other ingredients that are perfect for warming dinners. With your own kitchen in your motorhome or caravan, you can take advantage of the seasonal flavors and cook something delicious after the day's excursions.

Fresh air, hikes and small adventures

Once the summer heat has subsided, autumn can be a perfect time for hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities. The air is often clear and fresh, and it can be nice to get moving without getting too hot.

It doesn't have to be a long or advanced hike. A walk along a lake, a bike ride on back roads or an excursion to a nature reserve can be just as wonderful. And why not pack a thermos of coffee and something good to eat? Sitting down in a beautiful spot and enjoying the view is one of the simplest forms of holiday luxury.

Autumn markets, cozy small towns and good food

Of course, fall camping doesn't have to be all about nature. It's also a great time to discover small towns, visit local farm shops, and stroll around markets.

In many places, the harvest season is celebrated with local products, food experiences and various events. Maybe you will find freshly picked apples, a delicious cheese or some other local specialty to take home for dinner tonight. Being able to combine nature experiences with small excursions and good food is one of the things we appreciate most about life on the road.

When darkness falls, warmth awaits

There's something special about the contrast between the fresh autumn air and the warmth indoors. After a day of walking, mushroom picking or other experiences, it's wonderful to come back to your own little home on wheels.

Maybe the rain patters against the roof while dinner simmers on the stove. Maybe you sink into the sofa with a cup of tea, a good book and a soft blanket. Or you just sit and look out over nature as dusk slowly falls.

Especially in the fall, comfort becomes extra important. Good heating, comfortable seating and a well-equipped kitchen make it possible to enjoy camping life even when the days get shorter and the evenings cooler. And this is where a modern caravan can really come into its own.

Autumn coziness in a caravan from Adria

For those who want to enjoy camping life for a larger part of the year, Adria offers caravans where comfort, function and well-thought-out design are the focus.

One of the great advantages is the ability to experience nature even when you are indoors. Adria's characteristic panoramic windows let in daylight and provide views of the surroundings. Depending on the model and layout, you can enjoy the view from the seating area, the kitchen or the bed.

Imagine waking up on an autumn morning, pulling back the curtain and being greeted by a forest in autumn colors or a lake where the fog still lingers over the water!

When the temperature drops, heat also becomes important. Adria's winter-ready caravans include solutions such as efficient heating and underfloor heating, which make a big difference on chilly days.

Comfortable sofas and seating areas invite you to long, relaxing evenings. And with a well-equipped kitchen, there is every opportunity to cook a really good dinner, perhaps with inspiration from the day's excursions. Surely there is something special about being close to nature and at the same time being warm, comfortable and cozy?

When autumn turns into winter

For those who want to extend the camping season even further, a completely different kind of experience awaits. Further north, the first snow may arrive while it is still autumn in southern Sweden.

Suddenly there is the possibility of waking up to a white landscape, going on a ski trip or grilling sausages over an open fire. With a motorhome or caravan that is adapted for colder temperatures, camping life can continue even as winter approaches.

New Adria Alpina 2027 – created for year-round camping

For those who want to camp even during the colder months of the year, Adria's Alpina is a particularly interesting caravan. For the 2027 model year, the Alpina has received an updated design and several new features that make camping life even more comfortable.

Alpina is developed for Nordic conditions and features water-based central heating from Alde, underfloor heating and good insulation, making the model well suited for both chilly autumn evenings and winter camping.

The large panoramic window is one of the caravan's most distinctive features. Together with the bright and well-thought-out interiors, it creates a feeling of space and closeness to nature.

The new generation also features updated seating areas, improved sleeping solutions and a fully equipped premium kitchen. Different floor plans make it possible to choose a caravan that suits your needs and wishes.

Also new semi-integrated motorhomes from Adria

For those who prefer motorhomes, Adria is also presenting news for the 2027 model year. Among the semi-integrated models are Matrix, Coral and Compact, which offer different solutions depending on how you want to travel.

  • Adria Matrix is a flexible motorhome with, among other things, a drop-down bed and well-thought-out spaces for both socializing and relaxing. Read more about Matrix.
  • Adria Coral focuses on light and space, with large panoramic windows that enhance the feeling of closeness to the surroundings. Read more about Coral.

We travel ourselves with an Adria motorhome and appreciate the freedom of having our own home with us on the road. In a previous collaboration we have also told about to use the van as a base camp for experiences and adventures.

Extend the camping season and discover autumn!

Camping in the fall is perhaps above all about discovering how much beauty there is to experience even after the summer. The colors of nature, the tranquility, the fresh air and all the little moments that make traveling special. And when the day is over, the warmth, the coziness and the opportunity to just relax await.

With a comfortable camper or caravan, the adventures don't have to end just because summer does. Maybe autumn is even one of the most wonderful times of the year to hit the roads?
