In Mönsterås, between Oskarshamn and Kalmar, we were greeted by a blues festival, long-haired guys in leather clothes, ragtag cars and young punks ... Down in the harbour there was a parking lot for motorhomes and we managed to get a really nice place by the water, even though there were already almost 15 motorhomes down there.

The motorway service station in Mönsterås

The site in Mönsterås is located by the harbour and there were probably already 15 motorhomes here when we arrived. Although it was quite full, we managed to grab a place by the water, with a lovely view of the sea. During the evening even more motorhomes arrived, so we had good company during the night.

For 80 SEK you got access to the Tourist Office's service building with toilets, but no electricity. However, the nice sea view was included in the price! From the site it is also very close to the centre of Mönsterås, where we took a short walk.

Blues Festival and 'The Round'

We took a walk through Mönsterås, which turned out to be quite a nice little town, with small charming houses and streets. There was also a blues festival, with music on small stages, beer and food. So there were a lot of people in town, nice!

In the evening, when we were cooking in the motorhome, the locals started doing the "round". One by one, the cars came down into the harbour, did a lap, and drove back up into town ... There were cars with young people, older people, pensioners, whole families, hustlers ... There were even police cars and ambulances. Is that a Mönsterås thing? What were they doing there? Looking at the motorhomes? Looking at the water? Checking if something was going on?
