We are at Camping Metropolis in Sopot and have now been joined by Peter's brother Dennis and his family. And that does not mean few people! The entire large American motorhome is packed. In addition, Peter's youngest son Billie came along. (He sleeps in our motorhome because we have five beds, but we can only have four in the car when we drive...) So now there are many of us at camping Metropolis in Sopot!

Camping Metropolis in Sopot
Camping Metropolis is a short walk from the beach. If you're willing, you can also walk into the centre of Sopot, but it's quite a long walk. In any case, the walk is very nice! You walk along a walkway with a beach on one side and a park on the other side. Many people walk here and others get around by bike or board ...
The campsites is quite ok, albeit relatively simple. There are a lot of German motorhomes here, and there are also plenty of cabins. A short walk from the campsite is a small supermarket, so it's easy to stock up on supplies. What have we done? Mostly spent time socialising now that we've had visitors!

Beach weather
In the afternoon yesterday, the sun was shining and we could go down to the beach. It has not been spoilt with this summer, so it was wonderful! The beach in Sopot is also fantastic.
This is a long, long beach with fine soft sand. In some places, such as around the centre of Sopot, the beach can be quite crowded. There will also be some gatherings of people just below a campsite and so on. On the stretches between these places you can find a little more peace and quiet, if you are looking for it.

All along the beaches there are small restaurants, bars and barbecues where you can order something small to eat on a paper plate: a skewer, a sausage, a grilled fish or a waffle. It's not easy to read the menus and not everyone speaks English, but we soon learnt the main dishes ...

Exclusive Sopot
Yesterday we walked to the most central, and most exclusive, parts of Sopot. The majestic Grand Hotel towers on the beach and if you continue up town, restaurants and nightclubs are crowded with cafes and markets. We had to crowd around to get a seat on the beach!

It was not easy to find a table at a restaurant in the evening either. Since we are 12 (!) people together with Dennis's family, we ended up sitting indoors at a pizzeria, despite the fantastic weather ...

Bowling night in Poland
Yesterday we took a little break from the beach here in Poland. During the day we took the commuter train one station to a shopping centre and went shopping. In the evening we went bowling in a hall that is a three-minute walk from the campsite. Together with Dennis's family, we were 12 people bowling, and we have managed to capture some of them in pictures ...
