Yesterday morning we left Trelleborg and Sweden and boarded a ferry to Germany, more specifically to Rostock. Now we have moved on to a nice town on a beautiful beach, on the Baltic Sea coast of Germany.
By ferry to Germany
We travelled with StenaLine from Trelleborg to Rostock, a route we have taken several times before, also in the other direction. It's a smooth and reliable way to get across to Germany, albeit a bit boring.
The ferry takes six hours and there is a duty-free shop on board and a restaurant that fulfils the purpose of keeping you full. It doesn't get much more exciting than that. Or yes, there is actually WiFi too, although it works quite slowly. Now we were lucky with fantastic weather, so we could sit out on deck and enjoy the sun.
Arriving in Rostock
Finally, we could roll off in Rostock! The harbour in Rostock is gigantic and filled with huge cranes and big ships. Backing into the right "parking pocket" takes a little while... By the way, for some inexplicable reason, this harbour seems to be immensely popular with swans.
Our very first destination was the duty-free shop Bordershop, which is located just after you roll off the ferry. The prices here are good and we took the opportunity to stock up on some beer and wine for the trip.
To the coast of northern Germany
After shopping and refuelling, we could finally start driving towards our first destination! We drove through a sunny landscape and after about an hour and a half we arrived. Where to, you might ask? We will tell you more about that tomorrow!
So far we can reveal that this is a nice holiday resort with large beautiful villas, plenty of restaurants and a long nice sandy beach with a pier. A few kilometres from the centre we have found a caravan park. Can anyone guess where we are?

Yes, Trelleborg Rostock 9/7 then 3 weeks round trip down to Clermond Ferrand in the centre of France, a nature area with old volcanoes, hiking and nice mountain landscape. The way down in 4-5 days, Germany, Moselle valley, Luxembourg, France.
On the way home south Germany's thermal resorts, sniffing the northern Alps, visiting friends south of Mynchen, Berlin, last Rygen 28/7 and the ferry to Trelleborg 29/7

These ferries are a means of transport, nothing more, much like the Polferries to Poland. They are not particularly clean either. Guessing also on Rügen, but I will know tomorrow;-)

Yes, that's true. The ferries are good for getting around 🙂 .

Northern Germany has a lot to offer, and the atmosphere is usually great. In addition, a good price picture! Putbus on Rügen is phenomenally nice and also Binz wonderful but it is partly another region.
