Parking space in Valdemarsvik guest harbor – with a camper by the water

Updated: October 2026 | The parking space in Valdemarsvik's guest harbor is nicely located by the water, with a view of the boats and close to the center. We stayed here in 2009, when we were quite new to motorhome life, and returned in 2021 as the end of a month-long motorhome trip in southern Sweden. The water situation was just as nice as we remembered it, while the service had improved significantly.

By motorhome in Valdemarsvik guest harbor

It is primarily the location that makes us like to stop with the camper in Valdemarsvik. Here you have the water and boats in front of you, the cliffs behind you and close to a walk through the small town. A nice combination when you want to make a stop along the way and at the same time have time to see something outside the camper.

The parking spaces are located along the harbor promenades in central Valdemarsvik, close to restaurants, shops and other services. According to the municipality, there are a total of 31 spaces, all with electricity: 24 in the northern harbor and seven on Odalkajen on the southern side.

Our visits in 2009 and 2021

When we first came here in 2009, we had read in a guidebook that there would be RV sites with electricity. However, we couldn't find any electricity poles, and we weren't entirely sure we were in the right place. After talking to the staff at a boat shop, we were still able to stay overnight in the harbor.

It was a nice stay, even though the weather alternated between rain and sun. When the sun finally came out, we sat outside for a while and then went for a walk among the boats and old houses.

When we returned in 2021, Valdemarsvik was the last stop on a month-long motorhome trip through southern Sweden. We chose the place because we remembered the nice location – and were pleasantly surprised by how much the campsite had developed. Above all, we appreciated the fresh service building.

Services at the car park

According to the port's current information, electricity, fresh water, toilets and showers are included in the parking fee. There is also the possibility of emptying grey water and latrines, with automatic latrine emptying.

On our visit in 2021, we found the service building to be very fresh and modern. We also appreciated the opportunity to empty the camper's tanks before continuing home.

The campsite is stated to be open all year round, but during the winter both the number of available spaces and service are limited. The municipality also points out that the fresh water is summer water and is turned off when there is a risk of frost. Therefore, check current access to water, drainage and service buildings if you are coming during the colder part of the year.

Book and pay

There are both pre-bookable and drop-in spaces. Booking and payment are made online via the Valdemarsvik Port website, where you can also find current fees. The spaces are intended for short stays, and you can stay a maximum of two consecutive nights. Arrival and departure times are 1 p.m.

Stroll along the harbor

Even if you only stay one night, we think it's worth taking a walk along the water. During our visits, we have especially enjoyed the harbor environment, the boats and the old houses.

We didn't have time to explore much more during our 2021 visit, but the opportunity to step out of the camper and immediately enter a pleasant environment is a big part of the campsite's charm. It doesn't always have to be a long excursion or a packed program. Sometimes a walk and a moment with a view of the water is enough.

More to see and do in the neighbourhood

If you continue your journey in the area, you can, for example, aim for the Gryts archipelago and KustCamp Ekön or further towards the Sankt Annas archipelago. We also like charming Söderköping and the environment around Stegeborg.
