Rising food prices impact, but few want to give up holidays

According to Ticket's Sifo survey, 39% of Swedes say that high food prices have affected their travelling. However, after several years without foreign travel for most people, few (13 per cent) are prepared to give up holiday travel altogether, and the majority are instead adjusting their destination or travel budget. Holiday travel has therefore increased by 7% compared to the same period before the pandemic.

Top rated cities for responsible travellers

According to a new survey from hotel and travel search site momondo.se, more than half of Swedes (54 per cent) have insufficient information to make sustainable choices when travelling. Momondo has now launched a city index for responsible travellers with 167 cities from 63 countries. The index is an interactive guide to help travellers consider sustainability-related aspects, such as carbon accreditation at airports and local air quality. Top 10 highest ranked cities:

Where Swedes go during Easter

Easter is a popular time for a holiday abroad, with more than one in ten Swedes saying they are planning a trip abroad this Easter, according to Ticket's latest Sifo survey. Many Swedes travel south, often to sunny beaches or one of Europe's major cities. The hottest destination during this year's Easter holidays is Malaga. However, this year's destination rocket, where bookings are increasing the most, is Alicante, according to recent booking statistics from Ticket. Most popular destinations for Easter:

Turkey travel back at Norrköping Airport

After several years of absence, Tyrkietresor is back at Norrköping Airport. As of 17 May, they offer departures to Turkey every Wednesday until 1 November. In addition to affordable holidays in Alanya, Side and Kemer, among others, world-class golf courses in Belek attract visitors. The general security situation in Turkey is stable. However, travellers are advised to exercise general caution in major cities, in particular in Istanbul, and to avoid demonstrations and other large spontaneous gatherings.

Öland prepares for another spring in the sign of art

Last year's success, Konstlandskapet Öland, is repeated this spring. Several actors on Öland are joining forces to create one of Sweden's largest art tours. Konstlandskapet Öland takes place on the Ascension weekend, 18-21 May. In total, over 90 individual artists and designers will open their studios and exhibition spaces to visitors. During the weekend of the Art Landscape, the jury-judged spring salon will also take place at Mount Heaven.

Stockholm gets its first self-driving ferry

Kungsholmen - Södermalm in six minutes by ferry? In early summer, Stockholmers will be able to travel across Riddarfjärden on the world's first self-driving ferry, powered entirely by electricity. "We will operate in the quay area below the Munich Brewery on Söder Mälarstrand and across to Kungsholmstorg," says Reidun Svarva, business area manager at the Norwegian shipping company Torghatten AS, which is behind the initiative. Torghatten will announce the date of inauguration and start of service later.

Kosta safari park builds glass accommodation in the treetops

Sleeping high up in a tree house is a dream for many, and now it can come true. Three different tree houses will be built during the spring in Kosta Safaripark at Kingdom of glasstwo of 15 square metres and a larger one of 30 square metres. Four metres up on a 100-square-metre wooden deck, the floor will be made of glass, making it possible to see the wild animals in the park. The small houses have a bed for two people, toilet facilities, a simple kitchen, a barbecue and a wood-burning stove. The large cottage can accommodate up to four people.
