Is it almost time to prepare your campervan for spring? For us it's not quite time yet, as we're still travelling around South Africa, but we've already started thinking about and planning for spring and summer motorhome trips.

Preparing your motorhome for spring

We will probably travel a lot with the motorhome this spring, summer and autumn. It will probably be mostly Sweden this year, and we have several places on our wish list.

In August, our South African friends are also coming to Sweden, and they will be travelling with us in the motorhome for a week. So we have a little extra reason to make sure our motorhome is ready, clean and functional. Here are five things to think about before spring and the motorhome season!

1. Wash the motorhome

One thing you want to do in the spring, before it's time to hit the road, is to wash your motorhome. We usually go to a washing area that is extra high, where a motorhome can fit. Then we use a pressure washer, albeit with some caution, and the appropriate detergent and brush. Learn how to wash a motorhome safely at GörDetMedRW.

2. Spring cleaning your motorhome

It's also nice to do a good spring clean inside the motorhome. We usually vacuum, go through all the drawers and cupboards, scrub the fridge and freezer and wipe all surfaces with detergent. Then it's time to make the bed with clean sheets and hang up clean towels.

3. Repairing things in the motorhome

Every season something breaks in our motorhome. Often it's something in the interior, and it can be small things (which sometimes cause a lot of misery). For example, last summer we fixed our oven door and our fridge door.

Right now some shutters are malfunctioning, in the sense that they are difficult to open. We would need to fix this. We are also tired of the curtains in front of the beds being so slow to pull back and forth. If you are not super cautious detaching the curtains from the hangers. This is also something we would like to fix.

Last summer we repaired our fridge door, which had stopped working.

4. Get new equipment for your motorhome

Sometimes you need to buy new equipment for your motorhome, whether it's outdoor furniture or kitchen accessories. We don't think it's going to be such a big deal this year for us, but we may need new coffee mugs, for example, because we accidentally broke one.

A few years ago we bought new wine glasses. Now it's coffee mugs that are needed.

5. packing food, clothes and equipment

Finally, it's time to pack food, clothes and equipment. When travelling with a motorhome, you can take quite a lot with you, but of course you have to consider the weight. Here is a packing list for the motorhome which you can check off.
