Updated: October 2026 | Hjälmargården & Läppe camping is located on the southern shore of Hjälmaren in Läppe, near Vingåker. We visited Hjälmargården by motorhome in 2011, when I, Helena, was to give a lecture at the conference facility. There was also time for a walk along the water and a read in the sun. Today, camping, camping sites, cabins and hostels are offered, with beaches and activities nearby.

Our visit by motorhome
We arrived at Hjälmargården the day before my lecture and therefore had time to look around a bit. The weather was nice, there was greenery around us and it was close to Hjälmaren.
After the walk we took out the books and sat outside in the sun. Peter looked so relaxed that he almost seemed to have fallen asleep. A nice moment before it was time for me to work!
We haven't returned since 2011. The photos in the report are from that stay, while the practical information below has been updated.
Camping and motorhome pitches in Läppe
Hjälmargården and Läppebadets camping have collaborated since 2014. Today, there are 120 campsites with electricity, of which about 60 are seasonal. There are also tent sites, cabins and hostel rooms.
For campervan travellers, there is both camping and dedicated pitches. The camping pitches can be booked online, while the pitches are intended for spontaneous visits and cannot be pre-booked.
It is good to distinguish between the seasons: the campsite is seasonal, while the pitches are stated to be open year-round. Check the current dates and available services before your visit.
Service and serving
A new service building was opened in the summer of 2026, and the facility also has a completely renovated service building. For camping guests, there are toilets, showers and a camping kitchen.
The area also has a mini-market and Kaffestugan, where you can have a coffee or a bite to eat during the summer season. Opening hours and offerings vary with the season.
Hjälmargården is also a camp and conference facility with a Christian profile. Camps, concerts and other events are arranged here, and groups can rent premises and accommodation. It was just such an association event that brought us here.
Swimming and activities at Hjälmaren
There are two beaches here, of which Läppebadet has a shallow sandy beach and a bathing jetty. During the summer you can combine camping life with sun and swimming.
For those who want to do more, there are mini golf, frisbee golf and playgrounds. You can also rent a canoe or book the wood-fired sauna by the lake. There are walking opportunities in the surroundings, including the Bäverstigen around Läppe and Rudsjön.
We ourselves were content with a walk and relaxation during our short visit. When you combine work with camper life, a book and some time by the water can be just what you need.
Good to know about Hjälmaregården & Läppe camping
- Location: In Läppe on the southern shore of Hjälmaren, near Vingåker.
- Camping: 120 electric pitches, of which approximately 60 are seasonal pitches, as well as tent pitches.
- Parking spaces: Open all year round according to the facility's information. Cannot be booked in advance.
- Other accommodation: Cottages and hostels of varying standards.
- Service: Service house with toilets, showers and camping kitchen. Catering and mini-market have seasonal opening hours.
- Activities: Beaches, mini golf, frisbee golf, playgrounds, canoe rental and bookable sauna.
- Our visit: We stayed here with a camper in 2011 and haven't returned since.

Hi looking on a turn, looks very nice there. We ourselves had plans for a trip over to Germany, but have changed our minds due to the infection that exists there and it may only be a small quick trip over and Jutland instead 😉.

I can only mention that the construction workers are doing this completely voluntarily in their spare time, hence the somewhat strange construction times.
