By motorhome in Ystad – pitches, parking and camping

Updated: October 2026 | Where can you stay overnight with a campervan in Ystad? We have returned many times, especially when we are going to take the ferry to the continent. Over the years we have stayed in various parking lots and car parks in the port area, but also stayed at a campsite. Here we sort out the options – from the marina's overnight parking to campsites and parking lots along the coast.

Our return visits with a motorhome in Ystad

Ystad has become a regular stop on our motorhome trips. Sometimes we just need an overnight stay before the ferry, while other times we have had time to walk through the city and enjoy the surroundings.

On a visit in 2011, we drove all the way from Stockholm and arrived at the marina at 1am. The next morning we woke up to bright sunshine, boats and water right next to the camper. A great start to the trip!

Since then, both our travel habits and the parking options in Ystad have changed. The old story of rolling in in the middle of the night should therefore be read as a travel memory. Today, you need to check the conditions of the place you intend to use, especially if you arrive late.

Ystad Marina – night parking in the marina

Ystad Marina is located directly west of the commercial port, with a good location for those who want to walk into the city center or continue to the ferry terminal.

There is special overnight parking for motorhomes during the summer season. There are both places with access to electricity and places without electricity. In 2026, it was possible to buy an overnight ticket between June 1 and September 13.

The ticket is purchased at the port office during its opening hours. and is valid until 11 a.m. the next day. It is therefore important to plan your arrival and check current information before your visit.

The port has toilets, showers and laundry facilities. When paying, check which access to services applies to the motorhome pitch. The latrine for motorhomes is emptied during the port office's opening hours, and electricity consumption is charged separately for the electric pitches.

The marina's overnight parking is a seasonal option. During the winter months, parts of the area are used for boat storage. You can find current season dates and conditions at the municipality's page about Ystad marina.

RV parking in the harbor area – an easier alternative

There are also simpler RV parks in the harbor area. One of them is located at Little Boatman's Street, near the city center.

This is an asphalt parking lot without camping services. So don't expect electricity, showers or emptying facilities just because the site is close to the marina. Payment is via machine or app.

The municipality has also referred to mobile home parking at Segelgatan during the off-season. Since the use and parking rules of the harbor area have changed over the years, it is wise to base your decisions on current signage and the municipality's parking map.

For us, proximity to the city and the ferries has often been more important than the location offering a camping environment. But which parking is suitable depends of course on whether you need service, how long you will stay and what rules apply there.

Long-term parking before the ferry trip

Long-term parking serves another function: here you can leave your vehicle for a longer period of time, for example if you take the ferry without your camper.

Ystad Municipality has several long-term parking lots where parking can be permitted for up to 30 days. This time limit does not apply to all parking spaces in the port., and a long-term parking lot is not automatically a parking space with the possibility of camping.

Therefore, check both the permitted parking time and whether the space is suitable for the size of the vehicle. If the intention is to sleep in the motorhome, the conditions for this also need to be checked. On municipality parking page There are maps and current information.

Sjöhög – mobile home site at the sewage treatment plant

Another option is the camper place at Sjöhög, at Västerleden 129 west of the wastewater treatment plant. It is located further west than the marina and the central harbor parking lots.

This is a simpler alternative for those who can do without full camping services. The issue of building an emptying station here has been addressed by the municipality, but we do not include one in the site's service offering. Here too, you need to check signage, fees and current conditions on site.

Ystad Camping – camping service all year round

Do you want a regular campsite? Ystad Camping, on Österleden 97, an alternative. The campsite is located east of the city center, near the beach, and is open all year round.

There are places for motorhomes and caravans on grass or gravel beds with grassy areas around. All camping sites have electricity. The range of services includes toilets, showers, kitchens, washing-up areas and laundry facilities, as well as emptying of latrines and greywater.

During the low season, check-in takes place via a self-check-in machine at the entrance. The reception, shop and pizzeria are closed at that time.

We have also stayed at a campsite during our visits to Ystad. It is an option when you want more service or stay a little longer, while the port area can be more convenient for a short overnight stay before the ferry.

More campsites and motorhomes near Ystad

If you want to stay along the coast, there are more options in the surroundings of Ystad. The following places are tips based on current information, and should not be read as reviews from our own visits.

Nybrostrand Camping

Nybrostrand Camping, on Notvägen 2 in Nybrostrand, is located right next to the beach east of Ystad. The campsite accepts campers and offers pitches with or without electricity. There are toilets, showers, drinking water and latrine emptying. It is a seasonal campsite; in 2026 the season was April 4–September 27.

Note the name: Nybrostrands Camping should not be confused with Nybostrand, which is located near Trelleborg.

Kåseberga camping site – near Ale's stones

Kåseberga car park is run by the sports club IF Ale and is located on the old football field at the entrance to the village. From here you can walk further to the harbor and Ale's rocks.

The association lists 97 pitches, 27 of which have electricity. The site does not accept pre-bookings, so availability upon arrival determines whether you will get a place. There is a simpler service here with toilets and showers. Check current emptying options if you need to empty your camper – cassette toilets, fixed tanks and grey water may require different solutions.

Löderups strandbads camping

Löderups strandbads camping, on Östanvägen 64, is a seasonal campsite close to the sea and nature. Here you can stay with a camper and combine your camping stay with excursions to places such as Sandhammaren, Dag Hammarskjöld's Backåkra and Ale's stones. The Skåneleden trail is also in the area.

It is an alternative for those who want to spend more time along the coast, rather than staying centrally in Ystad.

Solans Mack & Caravan site in Löderups beach

Solans Mack & Parking Lot, at Östra Kustvägen 1074, is a separate facility from Löderups strandbads camping. It offers motorhome pitches with access to electricity and service, and there is also a restaurant on site. Check current opening hours and which services are included before your visit.

Take the opportunity to discover Ystad

Although Ystad is often a stop before the ferry, we think it's worth giving the city some time. The old quarters, half-timbered houses and walks through the city center mean that an overnight stay can be a little more than waiting for the next departure. Ferries from Ystad – to Poland and Bornholm

Ferries go from Ystad to Swinoujscie in Poland with Polferries and Unity Line as well as to Rønne on Bornholm with the Bornholm Line. On both routes you can bring your camper. The Poland Ferry is a convenient alternative to continue your journey through Poland or further towards other parts of Europe, while the Bornholm Ferry takes you to the Danish holiday island.

We have returned to Ystad many times ourselves for ferry trips to the continent. An overnight stay nearby can be practical, but always check the shipping company's check-in times and which terminal and vehicle check-in applies to your departure.
