SharePreparing for the evening at the Avalon nightclub
Firstly, some photos from the preparations in the hotel room. Finally, we were sweaty and ready for a night on the town!
Restaurant Pavlin
We had dinner at the Pavlin restaurant, located inside the Avalon nightclub in Kiev. When you arrive at the club, you are greeted by staff who help you take off your clothes, and then show you around.
We walked through rooms decorated with gold and winding plants, and then sat at a table in the centre of the restaurant, among some other diners. Some other guests sat back and smoked hookah and others sang karaoke on a stage in the restaurant.
Alexandra and I accidentally ordered raw beef. We were actually quite unhappy with our own order, but it was mostly because we didn't want raw beef. Actually, there was nothing wrong with the raw beef, which was served as small "blobs" on a log.
Nightclub and hotel bar
Club Avalon is really hard to describe in words, and unfortunately we didn't take many photos either. You move among walls adorned with gold, peacock chairs, cylindrical toilets with cobalt blue walls, fountains and small fires. Sometimes you realise you're walking on a small bridge over a stream where fish are swimming and going to the toilet ... well, it's an adventure!
When we got back, we sat for a while in the hotel bar, and since this is Ukraine, the hotel bar also happens to be a strip club. Clear signs on the door to the bar indicated that you were not allowed to bring your camera inside, nor weapons ...
