Winter in Kiev after a few days of higher temperatures. Today we show you some pictures we took last night, when the snow was thick and the snow was blowing over the city. Today it is snowing and windy even more, so you really have to go out, but the mood among the people is great. Join us for a winter in Kiev!

Pictures from a wintry Kiev

Kiev is indeed covered in thick white snow and very wintry. Snow removal doesn't seem to work very well either. You see some aunts and uncles shovelling, but mostly there is snow everywhere - even in the air!

Lovely Winter in Kiev

What a lovely winter in Kiev we have and what a nice mindset the Ukrainians have. There are hardly any boots for women without lining and everyone seems to have different suppliers, so much design on the clothes here. The men's jackets are really lined and very stylish and the prices are great.

Now we are enjoying the winter. It feels like everyone here in Kiev wants to contribute to a lovely winter and Christmas. Sure, they have lots of Christmas decorations everywhere, but I've never seen so many people dressed up, and it feels like everyone is out on the streets talking and laughing.

Snow removal is a separate issue in this city. There are no real plough trucks, just the occasional helpless tractor with far too weak buckets. Otherwise, there are a few old ladies here and there hacking away with a few shovels. The cars have no winter tyres either, so you can imagine the chaos ...

Nice atmosphere

We're usually impressed when a city puts on a great show for Christmas, but what about the people? Here we get everything that makes Christmas and winter complete.

Tickets for New Year's Eve

Now we have also bought tickets for New Year's Eve. We have booked a table at Avalon, in the discotheque (Ukrainians love to book tables in discotheques). Booking the tickets was an experience in itself!

We had to go to the Avalon, hang our coats in the wardrobe and follow the "manager" who showed us to our table (and adjusted the cushions). Then we had to go through the menu and order food and wine and pay a deposit in advance (which you then get to eat and drink for). At least now we have our tickets!
