Landek Park is a mining museum in Ostrava in the eastern Czech Republic, and there is also a nice campsite. We visited the museum a few years ago, and on this year's trip we stayed at the campsite, as it has a good location when visiting Ostrava. The campsite is a good stop if you're travelling by motorhome, and the mining museum is well worth a visit even if you're travelling by other means.

Landek Park in the Czech Republic
Landek Park is a mining museum that tells about the time when Ostrava was a large and important mining town. There is also a campsite where you can stay with a motorhome, caravan or tent. The campsite is ideal for visiting the mining museum, and there are also cycle paths for cycling into the centre of Ostrava.

Landek Park is located in the northern part of the city of Ostrava, in the eastern part of the Czech Republic.
Camping Landek Park
Camping Landek Park is located in a beautiful green environment, right next to the mining museum. There are plenty of pitches on a large lawn and there are also pitches on gravel for those who prefer a "pitch". Electricity poles are scattered here and there in the area.

The reception is right next door and here we got good help in English. There is also a simple restaurant, and we each had a beer here before we drove down and found our place. For those who want, there are also different courts for tennis.

The service is good, with fresh toilets and showers. There is also a modern and good emptying station for grey water, water refills, etc.

Landek Park mining museum
We visited the mining museum in 2016, so we chose not to visit it now. We still want to recommend it, because visiting the campsite and the museum together is definitely a good combo.

When we visited the museum, we had to wear helmets and walk down the long, narrow corridors. Fascinating and interesting, while being extremely grateful for not being a miner in the past.

The museum has an exhibition of protective equipment used by workers in different situations and at different times. It can't have been fun having to work in these suits!

The museum is nice and interesting to visit. At the end of the tour there is the opportunity to crawl through really narrow passages, to understand how the workers lived in the past. Who tried it? Peter of course!

Restaurant at the museum
When we visited the museum in 2016, we had lunch at the nearby Harenda U Barborky restaurant. It was a classic Czech meal with meat, dumplings, plenty of sauce and cranberry jam. It was a few years since we were here, but I googled and the restaurant seems to be there!

More to see and do in Ostrava and the Czech Republic
There is of course much more to see and do in Ostrava than the Landek Park mining museum. Among other things, we can recommend visiting the centre of Ostrava, where you can check out the view from the tower of the new town hall, and take a guided tour of the industrial estate. Dolni Vitkovice with Bolt Tower. You can also make some excursions in the neighbourhood:
