Since we live near Strandvillan, it felt natural to book a stay shortly after the opening. Strandvillan is located at the bottom of Skåne, surrounded by sea, heather and pine forest. We went here to find a moment of peace from everyday life and to socialise in a quiet and pleasant environment. We got all that and more.

A warm welcome
Strandvillan is located at the southern entrance to the Falsterbokanal, in an area that many people primarily associate with summer, swimming and beach life. But this is a place that is lovely to visit all year round.
When we arrived, we received a warm welcome. The whole hotel is characterised by a warm and familiar atmosphere and everyone we had contact with met us with hospitality. Getting a good treatment is something that we, and many with us, value greatly.

Our room was modern, bright and well planned. The decor is well thought out with natural colours and soft materials, giving a warm inviting impression. From our balcony we watched the boats glide by in the canal.

Spa parts
We spent most of our stay in the hotel spa. There are two heated outdoor pools, two saunas, several relaxation areas and stations for ice scrubs, body scrubs and facials. It is clear that the focus is on creating a calm place where you can take care of yourself, at your own pace.

We lay for a long time in one of the warm pools under the open sky and we took a sauna. We also tried their gold face mask - which was actually both nice and a little luxurious - as well as a water shower massage and body scrub.

A few minutes walk away is the sea. We took a cold morning swim there. It was refreshing and very calm.

Strandvillan doesn't offer classic treatments like massages or facials - but we didn't miss it. On the contrary, it felt like the whole experience was a treatment in itself. The fact that we were also completely alone on both occasions we were in the spa area felt extra luxurious.
Breakfast and dinner with care
The restaurant is quite small, but just the right size and with a clear focus on good ingredients and seasonal flavours. We had both dinner and breakfast here. For dinner we chose a three-course menu with wine packages.

Breakfast after the morning dip was as a hotel breakfast, in our opinion, should always be, but rarely is. No rush, no lavish buffets. Just good, thoughtful choices. We were served freshly baked bread, carefully selected cold cuts, yoghurt with toppings, fruit, juice, coffee or tea. Simple flavours, presented with care. We sat for a long time and enjoyed our perfect start to the day.

Who is Strandvillan suitable for?
Strandvillan is best suited for those seeking rest in a quiet environment. There is a point to Strandvillan not trying to be too much. There are no programmes, no entertainment, no excess. Just thoughtful simplicity. And perhaps that's what makes the experience so powerful. It invites you to do less - and thus feel more.
We only stayed one night, but we did exactly what we wanted. We walked along the seafront, sat in the lounge, swam, had a sauna, and ate well. There was no packed schedule - and that was the whole point. Strandvillan is not a place where you have to do as much as possible, but the opposite - a place where you get to do less.

You don't have to sleep over if you don't want to. Strandvillan welcomes guests who want to come for a day spa, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Strandvillan is open to everyone.
In the unlikely event that you want to leave Strandvillan while you are here, there are several activities nearby. Some examples are:
- The Skåneleden trail passes right outside. From here you can make shorter walks or longer hikes.
- Cycle paths run through the whole area, perfect for a day trip with a picnic.
- The golf courses Ljunghusens GK, Flommen and Fasterbo GK are within a short distance.
- Måkläppen nature reserve can be visited in winter. Here is the opportunity to see grey and harbour seals (which we were both lucky enough to see here) and many nesting bird species.
- Visit the white sandy beaches of Kämpinge, Falsterbo and Skanör.
- Have a beer at sunset in Skanör harbour.
- The Foteviken Viking Museum is a reconstructed Viking village.
- World-class birdwatching can be found at Falsterbo, especially during spring and autumn migration.

A place to return to
Our stay at The beach villa gave a sense of calm and presence, even though we were only there for 24 hours. It's not about time passing slowly, but about how easy it was to switch off the everyday musts and be here and now.
It's a hotel where you're not pressurised into activities or splendour, but a place to just be. We look forward to following the development, because even though Strandvillan is newly opened, it is clear that there is a desire to build something sustainable and long-term.
We will definitely be back. Maybe already in autumn, when the air is cooler and the sauna will be even more welcome. Maybe we'll come on a spring day with sunshine and lunch on the terrace. We'll see, but one thing is certain. We will return.
Strandvillan in Ljunghusen is close for us, but worth a detour for everyone. And that's probably the best grade we can give.
