Every time we come to Greece, we react to the same thing: the hospitality and the family atmosphere. After just a few hours, you feel like you've known people for a lifetime. We haven't experienced that feeling to the same extent anywhere else.

Genuine and hospitable in Greece

It's a bit difficult to put your finger on what it is. Somehow it becomes very easy and relaxed very quickly. You socialise, eat good food and laugh together. Soon you're invited to a friend's house, or you get to meet someone's mum, or maybe you get a present. It's overwhelmingly cordial in a way that we rarely experience in other countries - whether it's press trips or regular private travel.

The "downside" of this relaxed lifestyle (if there is a downside?) is that most of what you try to plan remains unplanned, there are no deadlines to stick to and everything happens as it happens. We are on the island of Andros on a kind of press trip, but there is no schedule, activities are invented along the way. But, often it turns out very well, and sometimes it turns out absolutely fantastic!

Many impressions ... lots to write about!

The last few days, on the island of Andros, have been very intense and packed with different experiences. So far, we have been able to write a report on City of Andros, which is the main town on the island. In fact, we have experienced much, much more, in the form of beautiful beaches, special restaurants, personal encounters, winding roads, lively farm animals and genuine rural experiences. More stories to come in due course!

And then everything else we try to work on at the same time ...

Our days are packed with experiences in the form of guided tours, meetings with local entrepreneurs, restaurant visits and road trips. We're usually on the road from early morning to late evening, and in between we're trying to manage everything else: hundreds of daily emails, press releases, collaborations, reports to be written, sponsored articles to be put together and everything else. We enjoy our job a lot, but sometimes it's definitely a challenge to get everything together.

FREEDOMtravel writer in Polish media

We're not the only ones on an adventure. One of the writers at FREEDOMtravel, Jonathan Gharbi de Maré, has recently been to the Ziélona Gora wine festival in Poland. Funnily enough, the region has recognised the visit in a report in Polish. Soon enough we will surely read more here on FREEDOMtravel too!

This week: Grateful for ...

This week, perhaps more than ever, we are grateful that we can work with what we do. It's not just the destinations themselves, but equally the encounters with all the amazing people in different parts of the world that make the experiences special. Travelling means a lot to us, in so many different ways, and we will continue to do it as long as we have the opportunity.

Your turn ... What are you grateful for this week, big or small?

The week ahead

We will hang out on the beautiful island of Andros for a few more days. After that we'll head to Athens, where we've also planned a few days before heading back to Sweden. Here on FREEDOMtravel you can expect, among other things, reports about Greece, and a report about a lovely place in southern Sweden, by one of FREEDOMtravel's other writers.
