A lot of snow and some ice have met us here in Poland. ”We are not used to this weather!”, say the guides in Sopot. We Scandinavians are perhaps more used to it. On the other hand, we have never seen Sopot like this before - and it is definitely different!

First trip abroad this year
First trip abroad this year has thus gone to Sopot, on the Polish Baltic coast. Sopot is Poland's most popular and most exclusive beach paradise and we have been here a few times in the summer, when we had the motorhome with us and stayed at a campsite.
This time we are here on a press trip (together with a Swedish and a Danish journalist), it is winter and we are staying in a hotel - a very different way to experience Sopot compared to our previous visits!

The very first thing we did when we arrived in Sopot was to visit M15 Sopot, which is a restaurant by the sea, with a fantastically cosy little sauna area. A really good way to start the journey!

A few days in a wintry Sopot
Sopot is a small town on the Polish coast, which, together with Gdansk and Gdynia, is part of the ”Trójmiasto” (Triple City). It is characterised by beautiful villas with ornate wooden balconies and a history (and present!) as an exclusive seaside resort.

In summer there are lots of tourists here, but this time of year it's much quieter. However, most restaurants are open and it's really nice to enjoy these lovely places in peace and quiet - with a view of the swirling snow outside. It has also been proven that you can get very good food here in Sopot!

This week: Grateful for ...
This week we are thankful that we live a life with the opportunity to travel. How great it is to experience new places and meet new people! Just in the short time we've been here in Sopot, we've met so many wonderful people: new journalist contacts, dedicated gallery owners, a fun-loving taxi driver, a chatty lady from central Poland... and many others!
What are you thankful for this week?

The week ahead
We'll be in Sopot for a bit longer, and then it's time to fly back to Stockholm with Ryanair. We'll be busy for a few more days - a birthday and a fashion show among other things - and only then will we have time to sit down and write about our winter visit to Sopot.
Here at FREEDOMtravel we have prepared some posts for the weekend, and next week you can expect reports on Sopot as well as on the fashion show in Stockholm. Please also follow us on Instagram at @freedomtravel.se!
Now we wish you a great Friday and weekend!

How nice with a visit to Poland and Sopot. Winter even there I see. Our one dog is going to Poland for a show soon, so I hope it will be a little less winter then.

Yes, unusually much winter for Poland, if we understood our guides correctly ... Very possible that it will be a little milder later!

I think I still prefer Sopot during the summer. Recognise the Haffner hotel, which was under renovation when we were there. The hotel is located in the quiet and slightly nicer part of nice Sopot. I did not recognise M15, but I did recognise Do Brzegu. And the nice, well maintained villas in Sopot are soooo nice. Go ahead and enjoy your trip: -)

Well, Sopot is perhaps at its best in summer, we can agree with that! However, surprisingly nice and relatively lively (not like in summer, but the restaurants are open and there are people on the streets) even now in winter! Glad you recognise some of what we show! We'll tell you more soon!

We can imagine that these typical seaside resorts will be a completely different experience in snow and a few degrees below zero, but at the same time a wonderful time to go to the spa and enjoy good food. We are grateful that we have the opportunity to spend the winter here and we look forward to new experiences when we leave Tavira next week. Have a great time!

Yes, Sopot is fantastic in the summer. but cosy in its own way even in winter! It will be interesting to see where you end up after Tavira! Wish you all the best!

How nice that sounds! This week I am extra grateful that my body has held up so well to the training I put it through, I am also grateful for my weekend off that I have ahead of me.
